I quite agree. I had never heard the Nanny Lightbody story.
I just wish the courtiers in general would learn to keep their lips zipped. It's kinda ridiculous to critique royal family behavior when you, yourself are a ghastly gossip. I wish courtiers were classier instead of so class conscious.

Together with German President Joachim Gauck and Prime Minister David Cameron Princess Anne, today, May 31, attended a Service at St. Magnus Cathedral, Kirkwall, and a commemorative event at Lyness Royal Naval Cemetery, Hoy, Orkney Islands, to mark the centenary of the Battle of Jutland.

Anne's husband Tim was present as well.

The Duke of Edinburgh was expected to attend as well, but cancelled his trip on medical advice.

Princess Anne looked beautiful (as always!) at the Royal Hospital Chelsea Founders Day Parade! I was wondering, what is the significance of the sprig of oak leaves that she "traditionally" wore?

The hospital was founded by Charles II, and the anniversary is celebrated around his birthday. Tradition says that Charles II avoided capture after his defeat at the battle of Worcester, by hiding in the branches of a royal oak. So traditionally the oak leaves are worn to celebrate Charles II.
