Horse & Hound's royal birthday gift

Quote:
You are the editor of Horse & Hound, your magazine is celebrating its 125th anniversary, you need a cover star … whoyagunnacall? Yes, the Princess Royal! The current issue of the mag features the princess and two horses on the cover. The weekly's 196-page anniversary issue also carries an exclusive interview with the woman known to the magazine as "British equestrian icon, HRH The Princess Royal", where she talks "candidly" about the role that the title and horses have played in her life.
The picture of the Horse & Hound cover - Princess Anne looks lovely.

Princess Anne to attend sheepdog trials in Cumbria

Quote:
A princess will cheer on competitors at the international sheepdog trials in Cumbria next week.
Princess Anne is patron of the International Sheep Dog Society (ISDS), which is staging the International Supreme Championships on the Lowther Estate, near Penrith, from Friday to Sunday.

Princess to visit historic school

Quote:
The Princess Royal is to tour a Highlands secondary school with connections to King George III. In 1809, he signed a royal charter granting permission for an academy to be built in Tain.
Head teacher Donnie MacLeod said: "We are all very excited about the visit, which will mark an important year for our school in a very special and memorable way."

What an honor for Princess Anne to appear on the anniversary cover of Horse and Hound magazine. It's a nice picture of her too.

Princess Royal opens Largs pier

Quote:
A new pier for the Ayrshire seaside town of Largs has been officially opened by HRH the Princess Royal.

The structure will help provide shelter and overnight berthing for CalMac ferries, which run on the Largs to Cumbrae route.
It will also be used by the world's last sea-going paddle steamer, The Waverley, on day trips from Glasgow.

How many Gatcombe Horse Trials are there in a year. Weren't they all there in July or early August?

Good question I'm not sure I guess there are two,
there has also been one in March, in August The Festival
of British Eventing was held on her country estate at
Gatcombe Park, and now we've seen the second competition
called Gatcombe Horse Trials.
For next year I've only seen one listed in August.

Here are some pics from yesterday:
The Princess Royal and her husband attend the Gatcombe Horse
Trials Three Day Event on September 20, 2009 in Minchinhampton.

How many? Yes, I know what you mean. 3 as far as I know. But due to the extensive property renovation with fantastically successful drainage work, Gatcome can be used nearly all year round and in all weathers. Many events in England have had to cancelled recently due to excessive rain and waterlogging. Gatcombe will now just soldier on so I expect more.

Spring & Autumn are the two events they hold at Gatcombe. The Spring is the Novice & Intermediate events whilst the Autumn is the CIC* and CIC** International Events.

Thanks a lot for the link, Dierna23!

Here are some pics from today:

Princess Anne officially opens the new RAF Association Remembrance
Garden at The National Memorial Arboretum on September 28, 2009
in Alrewas, near Lichfield, England.
The 50 metre-long garden features the RAF Association emblem -
a stainless steel eagle sitting on top of the world. The eagle is made
up of over 1000 hand-forged feathers.

The Princess Royal makes an official visit to Donaldson's
School on October 13, 2009 in Linlithgow, Scotland.

I wonder what exactly had happened with the little girl
in pic 2, the laughter in pic 1 seems to be a result of
it as well - it looks quite funny..
