It is our fault for letting this happen -- look at how we constantly critique every little hair style, makeup, outfit and now operations that Royals do (much less entertainers; and behind closed doors, our neighbors). Well said. I agree with all you said.
I think that all this criticism against Letizia is just another form of Legalism - an over-emphasis on self-sacrifice, codes of conduct, and rules.
She wouldn't be a better princess if the nose's bump was still there...

I miss her old nose. IMO it made her look regal, now she looks much more ordinary.

Medical problems?.

Its funny how some people calls a nose job a respiratory problem, a lot of people still feels bad to recognized they want to change their appearance, if the unfortunately Spainair accident haven't occurred they wouldn't admitted the procedure, but she had to go out of bed before she thought and nobody could deny the surgery by then, aside of the nose she was all with inflammations and bruises all over her face.

If you have a respiratory problem you don't touch your nose if you don't want to, if you want to touch your nose then is not only about a so-call respiratory problem that you have lived with forever.

I never noticed she couldn't breathe properly when talking and for somebody who earned his money talking is weird.
And for those who ask themselves why not before, well, when I said about a month ago that she had done some botox or fillers and people laugh at it (as if Letizia were from another planet) there you have it, she's not and wont be the first royal with stuffs in her face and body. In my opinion she started to do little things a long time ago and now she finally got rid of a nose she didn't like, before the wedding she probably didn't have the money (hey, is not cheap) and after she have being two years pregnant-nursing and the other two doing little things here and there, gaining and loosing weight, she also have more plumped lips and cheeks (w/o haven't gain wait) blonder eyebrows and even her upper teeths looks weird between the lip filler and (maybe) the surgery inflammation, I don't know.

The problem with surgery is that everyone starts to looks the same, like out of a factory line. She had an ugly profile but full of personality, now she looks like another operated one, I don't know, maybe I cannot explained myself pretty well, she always said she was more concerned about "other things" but since a couple of years ago she's being doing things to herself, subtle but noticeables, wearing mega-heels, condom dresses, wearing things don't even go with her body type like a fashion victim, she's always extremely concern about the opinion other people has about her fisical appeareance, everybody wants to look well but she's taking it too far, I mean, that's not the way she used to be or do they sell Letizia wrongly to us?, that's what happen when you say somebody is perfect, I remember 2003 and huh, no, lets not go there, there were never such a perfection walking on the streets of Madrid, there were never a better family in Spain, too bad nobody noticed that before They themselves set the bar to high.

Medical problems, yeah right.

Haaaaaaaa.

I always thought that a deviated septum was a medical problem. That was the reason for the operation, at least released by the royal family. Can't believe the King would OK a nose operation just for the fun of it.

I personally think she looks very nice and I am sure Felipe does also, which in the long run, is the only one that matters.

Would the King really have to ok plastic surgery?

Well, I don't know that much about this King and his opinions but seeing how every little thing concerning Felipe and Letizia is blown out of proportion for some reason or another by someone for their own reasons; I can't believe that he would even consider plastic surgery just for the sake of removing a bump on the nose. It seems there are quite a few people on this forum who feel that the King runs his family and their timetable, with a strong hand. To be honest, her nose looks better as I always hated those bumps (my first husband had one--need I say more) and deviated septum operation could correct (look it up on webMD) at the same time as correcting breathing passage in nose. I am sure that if she knew that all this crap was going to go on about it, she would have bought herself a years supply of Breathe Right Nasal Strips!

Her face still looks a little strange and disproportionately, new nose - heavier. May be she should not cut off the nose' tip as now her different nostrils seems more noticeable.
...I liked the new Charlene' nose much more. Anyway it looks refined.

I agree that she looks different - and it's not only the nose. However, I think we should give her time to fully recover from the operation. Maybe she's still suffering from swelling or something. I hope she didn't get any other traumas caused by the operation.

Some more articles on the operation. There are rumours (in spanish, see below) that Letizia travelled to Switzerland with her mother Paloma to have the operation in a private clinic.

El Jueves has its own way looking at things, as usual.

Prince Felipe caught with mystery woman

I can only agree with RaniaRocks. If there was any medial reason for the operation it was used as an excuse to do the aesthetic issues such as botox, fillers etc in her cheeks and chin at the same time. It's quite evident that her whole face looks different and not only the nose.

What I find almost funny is that the one Princess out of the crop of new CPs who aimed to be recognized for her hard work etc and not for such superficial things like clothes or looks is actually the first one to visibly alter her appearance for vanity reasons and to go down that "shallow" path that would have been foreseen for others.

Zarzuela's strategy to reduce Letizia to Felipe's accessoire and merely to her looks without any serious own agenda (what she does now started way too late) and to ignore her knowledge assets and outspoken character has finally shown an impact that nobody wanted to see. Too bad that the new face won't help to be taken more seriously. She's not Queen Silvia where people will say ok her facial surgery has gone wrong but never mind as her achievements are speaking volumes. Letizia was forced into looks from the beginning - she could have been such an asset if only given the opportunity, but sorry, not in Zarzuela's macho society - and the alterations in her face will even worsen her situation. When looking at her now I only hope that she will not end up like Begum Inaara.

It's a basic fact that when you have surgery on your nose it can completely alter your whole appearance. Moreover her face will still be swollen so if it does look odd and personally I don't think it does, then the surgery is probably the cause.

"She wouldn't be a better princess if the nose's bump was still there"

So true....Mary and Letizia are two of my favourite CPs. I admire the former for her style (in clothes) and the latter for her hard work....I doubt that by having her nose operated on for medical reason is going to affect her work ethics! I am sure Felipe and Letizia are still going to be the hardest working CP couple....

Even the tabloid shows admitted that this piece of story was copied from the fiction written on a certain message board . Paloma B was making a fool out of herself.

This magazine is mostly for fun, nothing to be serious about. Inside also talked about the plastic surgeries of other royals (the King, Queen, Infantas).

I don't know. She looks different all over. The eyes, the chin the nose even the hairdo. Perhaps she is still swollen. I do not know what posessed her to have this surgery (plastic side of it). Anyway. I just hope (for her sake) that she did not have it to "look better" for her prince. She looked so much better before. Never a beauty but something all her own.
However, somewhere along the line they had a profile of her and it was an awful looking picture. The skin looked old the pores too large. Perhaps they took it from too close up.
Let's see how this develops.

How she should look after nose surgery and some medicines?! As Odette wrote she is still swell and it must take some time to disappear and after that we will have a chance to say if she looks better now or before.
Who know how it really was?
Maybe she start havs those problems on last time and after consultations with doctors she decided to do that. If she would have them or she simple don't like her nose when she was on TV than why she don't have surgery then?
We have 21st century and many people have plastic surgeries.
Btw there is big deal just of her nose. So imagine how huge it would be if she or any other princess would take breast implants...

I would not worry about it too much. Some of the pictures seemed to be "doctored" a bit by lovely people who want to make a "bigger" story. Have you ever seen someone do that with pictures on your computer? Heavens, 30 year old could look 70 with the touching of few keys and then the exact opposite can be done. Really a lot of fun to watch grandchildren "crop and doctor" photos of a recent wedding and all the guests! Doubt if I can ever believe in pictures 100% again! LOL

I do not know how she should look like at this stage. I remember someone who went to have her eyes done and the surgeon said she could go back to work 2 weeks later and look "refreshed, like she came back from vacations".She did it and went back and the first thing she heard from everyone was........what did you do to your eyes????? LOL

Again, I have no clue why. I was just thinking out loud, hoping she did not do it to please anyone since this is always a losing battle

If she really wanted to please someone close to her, she could have done it between the engagement and wedding. I know several women in real life did some works before the big day, mostly to please themselves though.
Septorhinoplasty is what most doctors do for a deviated septum. The surgeons being interviewed on TV said that 90% of the patients also changed the outside look of their noses. She had a bump on her nose, why not have it removed if that was the package offered by the doctor ?

Yes, this is 21st Century, I think many royal women (young or old) or 'royals to be' have done cosmetic surgeries, both known or unknown to the public, for medical reasons or pure cosmetic, big deal. Whether she looks better or worse, it's pretty much a subjective opinion, a few posters here always find the need to blow everything out of the proportion.
