Spanish State Visit to Argentina. March 24 to 27, 2019.

Strange that Letizia is absent from the key events of the State Visit like visiting Congress etc she used to be present at previous State Visits (Mexico, France, UK).

In the cases you mention, the visit to the Congress was more ceremonial and with speeches. In the case of Argentina, it was just a meeting with the Presidents of the institutions... so probably the presence of the queen was more dispensable. The agenda was very tight, because they moved to lunch with the President in his private residence that is on the outskirts of the city, and evidently the Queen takes more time to get ready for dinner.

I am so happy that Casa Real is so active on youtube and they are quite good at sharing things without too much delay ! I have a big bias towards Leti as she is my favourite but this visit was very enjoyable and I love the way she works and how warm she is with people.

I was wondering something: does any of you know if Queen Letizia actually receive / read mail like Lady Diana did? I am toying with the idea of writing to her but I don't know if it is actually worth it.

Hopefully one day I can attend one of her walkabout!

Letizia and the First Lady have been great this visit - you can tell they enjoy each others company. Its great to see Letizia engaged and smiling during a state visit - sometimes she can seem like she doesn't enjoy the formalities very much.

I think that is "modern". A magic word, it seems.

Another anecdote. When they arrived to their hotel in Córdoba, they had been sent a box of traditional Argentinian alfajores (delicious cookies with dulce de leche). It was a present sent to all notable guests to the Congress of Spanish Language.

The Queen liked them so much that she asked the hotel staff about them, and when told of the company that made them, ordered 8 extra boxes to bring back as presents for the Royal Family. The great-great-grandson of the founder of the company delivered the boxes in person ?
