Three more pictures from today.
I managed to see some of the coverage on the awards today on TV (TVE, through cable) and they showed the princes greeting the journalists, as Felipe did last year.
Letizia reacquainted with some old friends and they were laughing a lot so, I think that the "serious woman" just came out in time for the ceremony, respecting the protocol.
Oh, and one more thing, pictures don't do her justice (I think), she's much more beautiful on tv.

Talking about pictures, here goes one cute set I found by chance today. They sad that Letizia came to tears more than once during the ceremony, and that, when Felipe mentioned her in his speech (I'll try to find an English version), she won a standing ovation.

Why did she come to tears? Was it something he said?
Thanks for posting the pictures! We love them, and it's cool that they're black/white!

"The ceremony of this year has for me a new and exciting meaning, because I am accompanied for the first time by my wife, the Princess of Asturias. I married her five months ago; it has been a step for constructing a home, forming a family and sharing the beautiful zeal to serve to Spain with full delivery, being loyalists to our history and compromised with the future of our society.
You all will understand that today the words are not sufficient to express how my feelings are removed on having expressed these ideas and on having remembered, at the same time, that the Princess of Asturias loves deeply this land for to be born in it and for having lived here decisive and unforgettable years together with her family and friends."
This is what Prince Felipe said about Letizia. When he said that, everybody began to applaud and Letizia was touched.
(I hope that the translation is well)

Thanks for the translation isabella_!
I can see why Letizia was moved to tears by Felipe's words. Who wouldn't be?! Very sweet things he said about Letizia.
From all that I've read about Felipe and what he himself says through speeches at various events and occasions, he seems to me to be a very thoughtful individual who is passionate about serving Spain. He seems to be extremely earnest in his sincerity and desire to succeed in representing Spain to the best of his capabilities.
That he has chosen a woman who seems dedicated and committed to succeed at whatever she puts her mind to is no surprise. I think Letizia will do very well in representing Spain as earnestly and with as much sincerity and success as Felipe has all his life.
At work, a few of us have a joke about how devoted we are to our jobs, that we "bleed the brand" of our magazine. Not to be deferential to the hard work of Felipe and Letizia, but I sense that they bleed Spain and that it is in every waking thought and action carried out by the two of them. Quite admirable!

Some more pics from the visit to Villar de Vildas, chosen as the Best Asturian Village (I don't think have been posted before).

Hey all, I haven't been on the board all week, but I was following their presence in Asturias for the Premios in the Spanish press. From what I have read it is clear that Letizia's first Premios Principe de Asturias as the Princessa de Asturias has been an unqualified success. They did so many audiences and met so many people and greeted so many crowds that there are loads of little stories and anecdotes--all positive expressions about her warmth, her charm and her elegance. They also talked about how, while trying to be descreet, she inevitably eclipsed all the prize winners. The press also talked a lot about how Felipe's words, and then the standing ovation she received from the 1,600 people in attendance, deeply moved her. She was quoted the next day as saying that she was so moved by the expressions of affection that she "could not lift her eyes" to look at either her husband or the theater. He bothe opened and closed his speech talking about her.
Letizia takes Felipe's hand after his speech:

Was this photo posted? It's great, they are listening to the band of gaiteros (traditional asturian bag pipes) who greeted them at the Royal Palace the day of their wedding; the band is playing a song "The March of May" written for their wedding and played for the second time in Asturias on Friday morning:

One article described her "exquisite elegance" throughout. Works for me.
I read that on Tuesday she is to participate in some Red Cross events with the Queen and the Infantas.

The hairdo for the awards ceremony is quite nice. Rather romantic. I hope she wears it like that more often. I love it. How touching that they applauded and she cried. Pulls on the heartstrings.

Well, well, well.... I believe these haven't been posted before. I found them on ShotNews while trying to find new pictures. Despite their hideous tag, there's some great pictures.
Hope you enjoy them.
First batch, Asturias

I personally think that Letizia has taken to her new job quite well. She looks natural and relaxed. What do you all think?

I agree. Although this couple is quite boring, I see that Letizia is truly happy. This couple will stay together para siempre!
