I agree with you, Letizia didn't look happy. But I took it more as perhaps she was a bit sad to be visiting a television station when not too many years ago she was a promising TV journalist herself, and now she simply visits and makes small talk with the type of people who were previously her colleagues

Crown prince says Spain committed to budget stability, growth
(...)
Felipe and Letizia will attend Saturday's forum sessions, which will center on the economic and fiscal situation in the euro zone, infrastructure and transport opportunities and the growth of the biotechnology industry.
The crown prince and his wife also are scheduled to hold a brief meeting Saturday with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who will arrive at the forum after taking part in the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro.

I thought she looked tired & bored, their schedule has been pretty exhausting in the last months.
We must not forget that (in general) the royal job as part of the business delegation is to draw attention to the cause, at direction of the government representatives. Felipe will only read out what they want to say.
While Felipe was groomed for such a scenario, it will be frustrating for a woman who has built her own career to be used as eyecandy by those who pull the strings in the background.

True but she knew what she was getting into and it was her choice to give it all up.
As for her looking bored, royal or not, many people don't enjoy such events and they can get boring at times.

Day after day of this would get a little boring Having said that it is now her job. I bet it was a huge deal for those in NY who got to meet them, and it would be better if she'd act interested and smile.

Can't believe some posters were making same same boring chain reactions without even looking at the pictures.

In all fairness, the same might be said of some posters who seem unable to take an objective look at Letizia, and no matter her wardrobe or facial expression always say how marvelous or pleased as punch she looks.

A forum on transport and infrastructure is not fun. Probably high temperatures (there was heat alert in the area) influenced, and that they had to extend their stay for several hours because Hillary changed her agenda.
This is the third weekend that the Princess is not with the girls this month, and the fourth for the Prince (who did not go with them to the beach)... also these days the girls finished the school year, so probably the parents have lost some school event.
