Establishment of The Hesperia Foundation: Activities from August 2010

The Official Bulletin of the State publishes on August 4 the inscription of the Hesperia Foundation, by the Prince and the Princess of Asturias.

The endowment of the Foundation is 3.999.968,66 Euros.

In compliance with the will of Don Juan Ignacio Balada Llabrés expressed in his testament, the Foundation shall be to study and support of the monarchy in Spain and abroad, and its promotion through the arts and sciences . It also will aim: a) the training of youth, to facilitate improved access to the labor market. b) the participation and promotion of social projects. c) promotion of culture in its various manifestations.

The government, representation and administration of the Foundation is entrusted to a Board, whose members occupy those positions for free and that requires accountability to the Protectorate. Initially, the Board is constituted by President Don Gonzalo Urquijo Fernandez de Araoz. Secretary: Don Juan Luis Iglesias Prada. Vocal: Don Enric Brancas Núñez.

Thank you lula for the information, this news has appeared everywhere in Spain today and everybody seems to think this is the right choice for the money. I agree it's a very laudable cause and a very nice touch that the Foundation works for the people of Menorca, the place from where Balada was and where he lived

The project is being developed by Caritas Malaga under the collaboration agreement signed in May 2011 between Spanish Caritas and Hesperia Foundation.

Prince and Princess of Asturias today celebrate the eighth anniversary of their wedding and they make it a special way: with a gesture of solidarity in times of crisis. Don Felipe and Doña Letizia visit, in Malaga,Caritas center for vulnerable young people that has been funded with part of the heritage of Juan Ignacio Balada.
