Baptism of HRH Infanta Doña Leonor

The baptism of HRH Infanta Doña Leonor will take place to 12:30 hours of the 14 of January of 2006 in the Palace of the Zarzuela.
The godparents will be Their Majestys the Kings. The baptism will be celebrated with water of the Jordán river, following a tradition of the Spanish Royal Family, being used salts of the salt mines of San Fernando.
Doña Leonor, following the familiar custom, will wear a christening dress that the King used for the S.M. baptisms, S.A.R. Prince de Asturias, and SS.AA.RR. the Infants Doña Elena and Doña Cristina, in addition to the children of both.
The baptismal battery of Santo Domingo de Guzmán will be used, as it were already made in the baptisms of HRH Prince de Asturias and the Infants Doña Elena and Doña Cristina. It is of white stone without carving and is covered of silver with golden adornments, that include the shields of the Order of Santo Domingo.
Santo Domingo de Guzmán was baptized in this relic in the Church of the Castle of the Guzmanes, Parish of the villa of Caleruega, its birthplace. To the being sanctified in the 1234 by His Sanctity Pope Gregorio IX, it began to venerate. In 1605, Felipe III transferred the battery of Santo Domingo from Caleruega to Valladolid to baptize his son, the future Felipe IV, later to be deposited in the Monastery of Santo Domingo the Real one.
The baptismal battery of Santo Domingo de Guzmán conserves in the Church of the Monastery of Santo Domingo the Real one, located in the street Claudius It nº 112 of Madrid the first Monastery of Santo Domingo the Real one was founded on Madrid by Santo Domingo de Guzmán in 1218, and was located in which now it is known like Seat of Santo Domingo. It was demolished in 1870, losing great part of the relics that were conserved there. The new Monastery was inaugurated in 1882.
The baptism Princes de Asturias will attend relatives of Their Heights Reales, as well as representing of the High Magistratures of the State and the medical equipment that the birth of Doña Leonor attended.
The ceremony will be celebrated by the Cardinal Don Antonio Maria Rouco Varela, Cardinal Archbishop of Madrid and Monsignor Don Francisco Perez González, Military Archbishop of Spain.
Music will be interpreted by the Choir of the Religious Daughters of Santa Maria of the Heart of Jesus de Galapagar.
