The baptism of infant Leonor will possibly be celebrated in the Real Palace and not in the Zarzuela

The baptism of infant Leonor will possibly be celebrated in a much more
solemn frame of which until now it was custom: in the Real Palace and not in the Zarzuela.

According to collected by the Confidential Digitalis, the coming to the world of the first daughter of the princes of Asturias can break one of the traditions of the present real family, who until now has celebrated the baptisms in "her house", in the Palace of the Zarzuela.

In the Zarzuela the baptisms of the children of Don Juan Carlos and Doña Sofía were celebrated, including the one of prince Felipe, during who, as it is well-known, they agreed Frank and Reina Eugenia Victory and, apparently, this last one raised to the general whom already were "three generations" (Don Juan, Don Juan Carlos and new born) and that "it chose" who had to be the King from Spain to his death.

Also the residence of the Kings and his children have been the scene for the baptisms of the grandsons, that is to say, of the abundant descendants of the Dukes of Lugo and the Dukes of Palm. Nevertheless, now that can change.

According to the data gathered by ECD, everything indicates that the baptism of infant Leonor will be celebrated in the Real Palace. Although the decision is not taken definitively, and therefore it lacks the last approval, have begun to take steps in that direction.

The difference with previous similar events is that this time is the baptism of a person called to reign, to being the first daughter of the heir, and therefore its meaning within the family, but also with governmental function and institutional, she is special and different from all the previous one.

Nothing or little is known about the baptism of Infanta Leonor; a ceremony that may be celebrated in the middle of January, at the Royal Palace, given the dynastic meaning of this particular baby, who’s the inheritor of the successor. The other six royal grandchildren had been baptised at La Zarzuela, even the children of the Dukes of Palma, who were born in Barcelona. Nothing is known about the godparents, although the tradition indicates that they may be the Kings.

The Princes complete the details of the baptism of infant Leonor

MARIÁNGEL ALCÁZAR - 13/12/2005

The secret better kept in the enclosure from the Zarzuela is the one of the details of the baptism of infant Leonor. The Princes take the preparations personally of which it will be also the ceremony of official presentation of the future princess of Asturias, almost to a month for the celebration, neither Don Felipe nor Doña Letizia you would considieran opportune to facilitate the details of the ceremony nor to make public the name of the godparents.

With the birth of infant Leonor the unamimity around the necessary constitutional reform was demonstrated that it allows the access of the women to the throne, have or non brothers men, and the Zarzuela does not wish that the baptism of the girl reopens the debate. The Princes look for to give with the formula that allows to combine the solemnity of the baptism of an infant of Spain with the naturalness with which the baptisms of the other six real grandsons have been carried out.

Here's an article about the cristining of la infanta leonor.

The baptism of Doña Leonor will take place between the seven and the fourteen of January

Translation of the article from El Comercial Digital:

Although La Zarzuela hasn't confirmed it yet, the first born of the Princes of Asturias will certainly be baptized in the week of 7-14 January.Little Leonor will be baptised after the christmas holidays, just like Don Felipe said after Doña Leonor's birth. By then, she will be 2 months old.

The ceremony shall take place the week that follows the Military Passover (January 6). Even though the exact date hasn't been confirmed, the most possible ones were January 7th and 14th, because both are Saturdays. Although La Zarzuela hasn't determined the exact place either, everything points out to The Royal Palace's Chapel, a place charged with historic symbolism.

Also, it's very likely that the ceremony shall be headed by Madrid's Archbishop, Antonio María Rouco Varela, and the Spainish military archbishop, Francisco Pérez González.

Doña Leonor is the second in line to the throne, after her father, and so she shall be Queen of Spain. Because of that, it's very likely that she will be baptized in the baptism sink of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, in which almost every heir (including Don Felipe) have received the sacrament. This romantic white silver sink (in which Santo Domingo de Guzmán was baptized back in 1170) is being kept at the female dominican convent of Madrid.

I hope you all forgive any mistakes, but English isn't my first language, but I think the general article idea is pretty clear

The infanta Leonor will be baptized next January 14 in the palace of the Zarzuela.

They begin to reveal this way some of the secrets better avoided the ceremony of official presentation of the future princess of Asturias, who could be seen recently in a mall of the Moral, in the arms of his father, clear it is.
At the moment, don Felipe and dona Letizia have not facilitated the name of the godfathers. The tradition marks that they are the Kings, but both don Juan Carlos and dona Sofía affirm that what should decide the parents of " the creature " - as the King refers sometimes to his granddaughter - it will seem to them likely and they remember that they did not want inmiscuirse in the name chosen for her either. Given the high position that Leonor will occupy, second in the line of succession to the throne, appeared the possibility that her baptism took place in the Royal palace, though finally it she will be in the palace of the Zarzuela, in the same scene in which her cousins were baptized, the children of the infantas Elenas and Cristina. Leonor's birth demonstrated the unanimity arround the need of a constitutional reform that allows that the women should accede to the throne and the Zarzuela it trusts that the baptism does not re-open the debate.

------------------------------------------------------------------

The journalists will criticize the godfathers' election be those who are, it is clear, some of them always write it of which tradition says that they have to be the Kings, and really in 30 years of restoration of Monarchy the majority of these traditions, obseletas, have stopped following. For example, the godmother of the Prince was his great-grandmother and not his grandmother, Victoria Eugenia was the Queen mother or widow, and Maria de las Mercedes the one that would be A Queen in the exile. So the tradition was not fulfilled extrictamente either.
Choose whom they choose there will be critiques, because if they are the Kings I am sure that there will be more of a voice, probably the same ones who write this, which they say that it is left to the family of the Princess of side and that they are ashamed of it or something for the style.
The press is like that and like the Princes make earn a lot of money, any their decision is questioned. I believe that it is one of the reasons for those who do not say it, in order that the journalists should not take advantage of the topic and esten debating if they have chosen well or not. Though any person who vayaa to want and to take care of the girl will be chosen well, the journalists will want to extract benefit.

The Infanta Dona Leonor will be baptized on Saturday, the 14th of January in The Zarzuela

The girl will receive the baptismal waters in the same place that her father, Don Felipe; her aunts, Doña Elena and Dona Cristina, and other six grandsons of the Kings

The first-born one of Their Royal Highnesses the Princes of Asturias will be baptized on Saturday, the 14th of January in a religious ceremony that will be celebrated in the Palace of La Zarzuela, as ABC could have known.

Though the House of His Majesty the King still has not announced officially the details of the baptism of the Infanta Dona Leonor, everything indicates that the small one will receive the baptismal waters on the second Saturday of January, the 14th, since the first one, the 7th, remains too much near the Christmas holidays, and the ideal thing is to celebrate this event on a Saturday to facilitate the assistance of the relatives and other guests.

Likewise, the baptism could not also be late to the third Saturday of January, the 21st, since these days Don Felipe has foreseen to travel to Bolivia to be present at the capture of possession of the new president, who will work out chosen in the votings of tomorrow. Little later, on the 27th, the Prince of Asturias will have to represent Spain in the investiture of the president of Honduras, Manuel Zelaya.

In a beginning there fought the possibility that the baptism took place in the Chapel of the Royal Palace, where numerous ancestors of the Infanta have received the baptismal waters - Alfonso the XIIIth among them-, but finally that possibility was discarded and the ceremony will be celebrated at the Palace of La Zarzuela, where the three children of Their Majesties the Kings - Don Felipe, Dona Elena and Dona Cristina-, as well as their other six grandchildren have been baptized.

These days Don Felipe and Dona Letizia finalize the preparations of the ceremony, which shall have the same familiar and simple character of the baptisms Infanta Dona Elena and Dona Cristina's children. One of the mysteries is if in this occasion it will be used the historical sink of Guzmán's Santo Domingo, in which almost all the Heirs have received the baptismal waters almost, since the reign of Felipe IV.

Though Dona Leonor is not A Heiress of the Wreath - since it's her father who owns this condition-, the girl occupies the second place in the line of succession, behind Don Felipe, and she'll be a Princess of Asturias, when her parents become Kings.

The sink of Guzmán's Santo Domingo, which was used for the last time almost 38 years ago, in the baptism of Don Felipe, remains in the convent of the Dominicans sisters of Madrid, near the Royal Palace and when the Prince of Asturias was born it was temporarily moved to La Zarzuela.

At the moment, it's still unknown who will be the godparents of Dona Leonor. Don Juan Carlos had Queen Victoria Eugenia and Infante Don Carlos de Borbón-Dos Sicilias (father of Dona Maria de las Mercedes) as godparents. Prince Felipe had his great-grandmother (Queen Victoria Eugenia) and his grandfather (the Count of Barcelona).

That's so true. The past two years, anything associated with the Princes (now Leonor) had turned into gold. The latest, Leonor's pajamas has become the hottest item in Zara. The problem starts with Jaime Penafiel. The SRF lets him get away by attacking Letizia with rumors and lies every week, he probably wouldn't have gotten away in other countries with articles full of insults and lies without being sued. Not only that, he earns fame and money, now a few other tabloid journalists are out there trying their luck to cash in.

Though it turns out to be surprising already they have written to themselves 3 books that use the name of the Infanta Leonor, and already there are people who has announced that it is going to write more. Already they have written more books on the girl who months of life has. In Spain certain sector of the "pink" press, the press on famous people, has turned into a business that moves many thousands of Euros. The Princes are a business, and the treat how if they were bulging prominent figures of Big brother. It is terrible. They try to move away from it but they do not leave them. Because of it they go out so much and one criticizes and questions them so much, because it gives money. Some of them demand the Princes who how they are public persons have to be always at the disposal of the press, and have to do the things how and when the journalist like it. They believe with right to handle their lives, and want to turn to the small Leonor into a " monkey of fair " for to prosper.
The really serious journalists, who devote themselves to another type of journalism, value other things, and not these bilges.

Thanks, Lula. I have to say that I believed Leonor was going to be baptised at the Royal Palace, but this way I guess they are trying to keep the ceremony in a more low-profile level, in order to avoid new polemics around the change of the Constitution...

Operetta=Zarzuela

The Zarzuela is the name of a musical kind Spanish similar to the opera, of there the name of Operetta, the translators sometimes translate it this way, I try to change it but sometimes one forgets me.

The baptism will be celebrated in one of the lounges of the Palace of the Zarzuela

Purple_platinum, Palacio de operetta doesn't exist! It's just one of the odd effects of online translation... it's just intendeed to be a translation of Palacio de la Zarzuela...
Well, the other christnings have taken place at La Zarzuela's private chapel. It just happens to be a very small chapel, so the ceremony was taken to the gardens in front of it. As far as I know my religion, Catholic baptisms can only take place in churches or chapels... so the only place where the baptism can take place is actually in its chapel... or the gardens, as an extention of the chapel itself.

The Kings of Spain will be the godparents of Infanta Leonor

King Juan Carlos and queen Doña Sofía will be godparents of baptism of Infanta Leonor, first-born of Princes de Asturias, informed sources into the Real House. Doña Leonor, second in the successory line after her father, Prince Felipe, and that will show the condition of Princess of Asturias when its parents - Don Felipe and Doña Letizia- are Kings, will be baptized in a religious ceremony that will be celebrated in the Palace of the Zarzuela Saturday 14 of January to the 12,30 hours.
