All newspapers have the heading:URGENTE, etc., they haven't written any articles yet

Anyway, I don't get it: That's quite unusual that the sex of the unborn baby is announced.
Are the special reasons for that?
... or did the Crownprincely Couple just want to stop the speculations if Leonor will stay Heir to the Throne or not?

(Actually the Website of Casa Real is down at the moment: To many visitors the same time I think. Everyone wants to know if it is really true =) )

If the baby was a boy, Leonor would only be Queen if the Constitution was changed before Felipe was crowned. No coronation is foreseen so far, but I suppose they decided to announce, so that politicians could decide about the urgency of changing the Constitution. I suppose Mr. Zappatero can rest and qietely wait for the end of his mandate...

Not so sure, my dear The Princes are "working" so fast, that we can have another announcement till 2008, ahahaha

Personally, I believe that knowing that she is another girl, they have decided that the Princess had a calm pregnancy. The Princess was in an inconvinient situation, with the polemic constants on the sex of the baby and the change of the Constitution. Probably they have thought that therefore she would be calmer and would be less pressure on her, which will be good for her and her pregnancy. Sure that this the help to improving her health.

Wow, I have to say I am really surprised that they announced it.

Did they know, or had the situation become so complicated that they felt pressured to find out ? (My understanding was they didn't know before Leonor was born)

I don't think everything in SRF turning around letizia and her health.it should be other reasons.
