King attends might military drill

Amman, Feb. 27 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF), on Monday attended a military drill performed by a joint special operations unit.

Before the drill got underway, His Majesty was briefed on the exercise and its various stages. The drill included the delivery of airborne forces and night assault operations covered by attack helicopters and jet fighter employing various weapons and state-of-the-art military technology used in night operations.

King to begin UK visit Wednesday


Amman, Feb. 27 (Petra)- His Majesty King Abdullah II will, Wednesday, start a working visit to the UK for talks with British Prime Minister Theresa May, as well as, heads and members of a number of committees in the British parliament.

The talks will touch on the latest developments in the middle East and ways to promote bilateral ties between Jordan and the UK.

Amman, March 8 (Petra)- His Majesty King Abdullah II, on Wednesday received Qatari Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed Abdulrahman Al Thani and discussed Jordanian-Qatari ties, as well as Arab issues of common interest.

Queen Rania calls for widening circle of interest in design at visit to Design Institute Amman

Amman, March 13 (Petra)--Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah visited the Design Institute Amman (DIA) in support of Jordan’s design industry on Monday, and met with some of the designers enrolled in its courses and workshops.

The Queen was welcomed by the Founding Director of the institute, Ms. Randa Jabaji, who gave Her Majesty a tour of some of the facility’s workshops and classrooms.

Her Majesty also participated in a discussion with sixteen designers moderated by Ms. Jabaji and Amman Design Week co-director Ms. Abeer Seikaly.

King visits Royal Air Force Command


Amman, March 13 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF), visited on Monday the Royal Jordanian Air Force Command.



The King was welcomed by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Freihat, and Commander of the Royal Jordanian Air Force.

King attends ceremony on 49th anniversary of Karamah battle

Amman, March 21 (Petra)--His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, on Tuesday attended a ceremony held by the Armed Forces at the Unknown Soldier Monument in the Jordan Valley, marking the 49th anniversary of the Karamah Battle.
Upon arrival, the King reviewed the guard of honour in the presence of the prime minister and defence minister and the army chief, and laid a wreath at the monument.
The King was welcomed by a number of Royal family members, the Senate president, the acting Lower House speaker, president of the Judicial Council, the president of the Constitutional Court, the director of the King's Office, the secretary general of the Royal Court, former army chiefs, the directors of security departments, the director general of the Economic and Social Association of Retired Servicemen and Veterans as well as senior military officials.

King to visit US after Arab summit


Amman, March. 26 (Petra) - His Majesty King Abdullah II will visit the United States, after the Arab summit concludes, Minister of State for Media Affairs, Mohammad Al Momani announced Sunday evening.

In a press conference in which he outlined the activities of the third day of the summit, Al Momani said His Majesty the King will discuss with the US administration challenges facing the Arab nation, especially the centrality of the Palestinian cause and the issue of Jerusalem.

His Majesty's talks with senior US officials will also address the issues of terrorism and extremism and overcoming conflicts facing some Arab countries.

On the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz’s visit to the Kingdom, the minister said Jordan welcomes this important visit, which will include meetings and signing of agreements that will cement the historic and deep relations between the two brotherly countries.

On the reopening of the Trebil border crossing with Iraq, Al Momani said re-opening the crossing is a Jordanian- Iraqi interest that will help restore normal trade exchange after a long period of closure.

King visits US, meets Trump next week

Amman, March 31 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II will Tuesday start a visit to the U.S., during which he will hold talks with US President Donald Trump.

Talks between the two leaders will focus on cooperation and partnership between the two countries and the latest developments at the regional and international arenas.

While in the U.S., King Abdullah will also meet with the US Administration officials.
