King attends military drill

Amman, Dec. 18 (Petra)--His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, on Monday attended a military drill that was performed by the King Hussein Bin Talal 40th Armored Brigade, one of King Abdullah II 3rd Armoured Division units, with the use of various weapons.

Amman, Jan. 7 (Petra)- His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF), on Sunday visited the army’s headquarters.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Freihat and senior officers received the King.
 
King: Reforms should protect low-income segments, empower middle class
Amman, Jan. 8 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II on Monday emphasized that ongoing fiscal and economic reforms should protect low-income segments of the society and empower the middle class and said addressing public debt is a priority but spurring growth is the key to move forward in the right path.

King visits Northern Military Zone

Amman, Jan. 15 (Petra)-His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, on Monday visited the border guards brigade 2 at the Northern Military Zone.

The King was received by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Lit. Gen. Mahmoud Freihat, and other high-ranking officers.

King to take part in a trilateral summit along with Cyprus leader, Greek premier

Amman, Jan. 15 (Petra)- His Majesty King Abdullah II will take part on Tuesday in a trilateral summit held in the Cypriot capital, Nicosia, along with Cyprus President, Nicos Anastasiades, and Greek Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras.

The summit talks will touch on prospects of joint cooperation between the three countries and the Mideast developments.
 
Queen Rania pays surprise visit to ‘Grow Startups’ at King Hussein Business Park

Amman, Jan 16 (Petra) – Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah met with members of the local startup scene on Tuesday, paying a surprise visit to several companies located within the ‘Grow Startups’ building at King Hussein Business Park in Amman.

Queen Rania dropped in on Parachute16, a consultation and edutainment company specialized in supporting innovation and entrepreneurship. The company works in Jordan and across the Arab World with the aim of building an environment where creativity can flourish.

King chairs meeting on national human resources strategy
Amman, Jan. 17 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II on Wednesday, chaired a meeting to follow up on the implementation of the National Strategy for Human Resources Development 2016-2025.
In the meeting held in the al-Husseineyah palace in the in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, King Abdullah was briefed on the progress in implementing the strategy's recommendations, which was launched in September 2016, with the aim of enhancing human resources capabilities and framing the work of all sectors involved in the education process from early childhood to the labor market.

King urges swift public sector reform
Amman, 17 Jan. (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II on Wednesday emphasized the need to speed up public sector reform without any delay, and said the administrative body of the state should come under continuous accountability and measurement of performance.
Chairing a meeting dedicated to follow up on the implementation of government's measures and plans to develop the public sector and complete the e-government program, His Majesty stressed that the government should have clear objectives and measureable outcome and underlined the importance of an all-encompassing and coordinated effort to achieve the set goals.
 
King meets U.S Vice President Pence

Amman, Jan. 21 (Petra)- His Majesty King Abdullah held talks on Sunday with visiting U.S. Vice President Mike Pence on developments related to the Palestinian cause and Jerusalem and the strategic partnership ties between the two countries.
The King during the meeting at Al Husseiniya Palace, attended by Her Majesty Queen Rania, wife of Vice President Pence and a number of officials from both sides and began over a lunch banquet, welcomed Pence's visit saying " I am glad we are seeing you here today, especially when it comes at a very critical point in our region." The King added " first, I would like to acknowledge and thank the US for its historical friendship and support to Jordan across many, many years. You have been a partner that has always stood with our country and our people through very difficult times, and I just wanted to express how much we appreciate the continuous support that we get from your country".

Queen Rania Oversees Preparations to Launch Edraak’s Free Online Platform for School Learners

Amman, Jan. 21 (Petra)-Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah oversaw final preparations ahead of the launch of Edraak’s new learning platform for school-aged children; the result of a collaborative effort between The Queen Rania Foundation (QRF) and Google.org – Google’s philanthropic arm.
Developed with the support of a $3 million grant from Google.org and complemented with engagement from Googlers to provide product design expertise, the platform will be offering free online open educational resources in Arabic to students.

It is interesting that King Abdullah called President Putin a brother. At the same time, the countries' bilateral relationships are pragmatically cordial.

King departs for working visit to Moscow

Amman, Feb. 14 (Petra)--His Majesty King Abdullah II on Wednesday, left for a working visit to Moscow during which he will hold a summit meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

During the meeting, the King will discuss with the Russian president relations between Jordan and Russia as well as the latest regional and international developments.

His Royal Highness Prince Faisal Bin Al Hussein was sworn in as Regent in the presence of cabinet members.
