A press release from the Royal Court today tells that King Harald and Queen Sonja will pay a visit to Washington D.C. from 16 to 20 September, Princess Ragnhild Mrs Lorentzen and husband Erling Lorentzen, and Princesss Astrid Mrs Ferner and husband Johan Martin Ferner will also participate during the whole visit.
King Harald will unveil a statue of his mother, Crown Princess Märtha, outside the Norwegian Ambassador’s residence. He will also pay a visit to Washington Navy Yard where President Roosevelt delivered the submarine hunter KNM “King Haakon VII” to Crown Princess Märtha on 16 September 1942. Queen Sonja will hold lecture about her experiences of Norway as a travel destination at the Smithsonian Institute.
The visit will be ended with a seminar about Snøhetta’s architecture project in the National Building Museum.
