H.H. General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, attended a friendly match between the UAE National Soccer team and Manchester City of England at the Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi, UAE. ”We will draw lessons from this match so as to represent the UAE honourably,” Sheikh Mohammed said.
The UAE won the match 1-0. The goal was scored in the first half of the match.
The match comes to introduce the club to the UAE fans which is owned by H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.
General H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, launched a nation wide campaign to combat the swine flu (H1N1) pandemic on Saturday November 7.
Sheikh Mohammed said “The healthy citizen is more capable to contribute in the implementation of the comprehensive development plans and in shaping the better tomorrow for our country.”
The campaign is to spread the awarness of the importance of immunization against the disease. The campaign started in Abu Dhabi and will cover the entire country.
His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, ruler of the Emirates, King of Spain Juan Carlos, Sweden’s King Carl Gustaf, Crown Prince of Bahrain Sheikh Salman Al Khalifa and other Sheikhs all met at the the Yas Circuit on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi to watch the Formula One Grand Prix on Sunday November 1st. The winners of the race were awarded trophies by Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed and Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has been re-elected by the members of the Supreme Council, made up of the rulers of the seven emirates. He has been elected for the 2nd term for the next five years. The President has traditionally been the Ruler of Abu Dhabi.
On the occasion of the re-elected president Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi said Sheikh Khalifa’s re-election was a great day in UAE history and confirmed the Supreme Council’s trust in his approach. It would signal greater prosperity for years to come in a statement published by WAM. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed the Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region said “The UAE is making rapid, staggering and tangible progress under the stewardship of Sheikh Khalifa,” he went on saying “The holistic development going on in all emirates simultaneously underlines Sheikh Khalifa’s sincere determination to secure a decent life to both UAE people and expatriate residents.”
His Majesty King Hamad of Bahrain visited Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit where he was welcomed by General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. The visit was part of the 2009 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Formula One races which takes place tomorrow November 1, 2009. King Hamad was briefed on the circuit’s history, facilities, local and international sports activities.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, met with His Royal Highness the Crown Prince of Belgium, Prince Philippe.
Prince Philippe is currently visiting the country for two days on an economic mission. Sheikh Mohammed and Prince Philippe discussed economic and investment ties between the UAE and Belgium.
Her Highness Sheikha Fatima hosted a banquet in honour of Crown Princess Mathilde of Belgium. Among dignitaries present were Her Highness Sheikha Salamah bint Hamdan (wife of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces), Her Highness Sheikha Shama bint Zayed (wife of His Highness Sheikh Surur bin Mohammed Al Nahyan) and Her Highness Sheikha Shamsa bint Hamdan (wife of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Representative of Ruler in Western Region).
Before the banquet, Sheikha Fatima and Princess Mathilde exchanged views on a number of issues connected with women’s rights. Sheikha Fatima briefed the Crown Princess about the UAE national women empowerment and the role they play in the development process in the country. Sheikha Fatima, who is the Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, has always been actively involved in women’s rights issues.

Princess Mathilde highly praised the Sheikha’s role in the empowerment of women in the community and her efforts regarding the issues of childcare, environment and social development. The Crown Princess also lauded Sheikha Fatima’s humanitarian contributions both on local and international levels.
Later in the day, Princess Mathilde paid a visit to the Khalifa Fund for Development of Enterprises. The Princess was given a presentation on the Fund’s objectives, programmes and achievements in the promotion of the culture of entrepreneurship among the UAE citizens. The Princess was very impress by the achievements of the Fund since its founding two years ago and praised its important role in promoting development of entrepreneurship among various sectors of the UAE society.
Today was the final day of Crown Prince Philippe and Crown Princess Mathilde’s economic mission to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Sheikh Mayed Bin Mohammad Al Maktoum won the Kentucky Cup Endurance race which took place in Lexington. The Kentucky Cup endurance is a lead up race for the 2010 Alltech World Equestrian Games.
The endurance race was a 75mile race which was completed by the Sheikh in 6:05:30. After the win, Sheikh Mayed said “It was amazing. This is the sport that we most love. It’s our history.” He went on saying “Given the weather today, the course was amazing. But the weather made it very difficult. There wasn’t any hard part, other than the ground being a bit slippery. Other than that, it was excellent. There wasn’t anything wrong or bad.”

UAE Foreign Minister, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, met with Colombian President, Alvaro Uribe, at the Presidential Palace in the Colombian capital. Sheikh Abdullah handed him a letter from President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President & Sheikh Abdullah held meetings on ways to establish trade, economic relations and business contact.
Sheikh Abdullah said that such meetings underscores the commitment of the two countries, he also called for signing a few deals between the two contries in various fields.
Under the patronage of her role as UN Messenger of Peace and Chairperson of International Humanitarian City, Princess Haya bint Al Hussein, the wife of UAE’s Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, will launch the “Stand Up & Take Action” campaign between October 16-18, 2009.
The “Stand Up & Take Action” (SUTA campaign), which is organised in the UAE by the International Association of Human Values (IAHV) and Art of Living, reminds world leaders of extreme poverty, hunger and reminds them of the pledge they took to achieve the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by 2015.
On the campaign Princess Haya said, “With just six years left to 2015, our focus on eradicating extreme poverty and hunger from the world has become even more urgent. Let us all commit ourselves to doing what we can to end the scourge of global poverty, starting today.”
Last year 1,114,000 people in the UAE took part and about 117 million worldwide.
