Engagement Reception for Victoria & Daniel

Sweden’s King and Queen have a Busy Day

Yesterday, the King and Queen of Sweden had a busy day. First, the pair attended the inauguration of the Sweden-America Centre in Karlstad. At the centre, Carl Gustaf and Silvia viewed exhibits of American/Swedish newspapers and sculptures. Queen Silvia attends ‘Spread the Sign’ inauguration

In a press conference yesterday, Prince Carl Philip introduced a line of silvery cutlery he has design for the Swedish company Mema/GAB. The cutlery line, which has been named CPB 2091, is made of silver and a set of five pieces (knife, fork, spoon, dessert spoon, coffee spoon) can be purchased from goldsmith stores around Sweden for 999 Swedish kroner (approximately 95 Euros). Sweden’s King and Queen visit Gavleborg County

Queen Silvia opens ‘Viola’ Flower Show

The Dutch Queen opened a flower exhibition yeterday in Lisse; and a similar engagement was undertaken by Sweden’s Queen Silvia. Queen Silvia inaugurated the ‘Viola’ Flower Show at Drottningholm Castle in Stockholm today, before touring the exhibition and admiring the flowers on display. More information can be found here.

Princess Madeleine attends Charity Auction

Princess Madeleine of Sweden attended the charity auction “Min Stora Dag” (in English: “My great day”) at “Stockholm auction house” on March 17, 2009, in Sweden’s capital Stockholm. Stockholms “Auktionsverk” (Swedish for “Stockholm’s Auction House”) founded in 1674 in Sweden is the world’s oldest auction house. Queen Silvia attends Drug Conference in Austria

Queen Silvia attended the start of the 52nd Session on Narcotic Drugs at the Vienna International Centre in Vienna yesterday, March 11. The conference was organised on behalf of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and was also attended by the UNODC’s Executive Director Antonio Maria Costa. King Carl Gustaf attends Skiing World Cup

King Carl XVI Gustaf attended the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals in Åre today. The King presented the winner of the ladies’ downhill competition, American Lindsey Vonn, with her trophy. The competition is something that the King has attended in the past, sometimes accompanied by his wife Queen Silvia and eldest daughter Victoria.
