HH the Heir Apparent, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, Crown Prince of Qatar received the Legion of Honour with the rank of Grand Officer, which is the highest decoration in France, from French President Nicolas Sarkozy in Paris.
The event was followed by a lunch meeting at the Elysee Palace. Later that day, Crown Prince Tamim met with the French PM Francois Fillon at the Matignon Palace. They discussed ways to strengthen existing relations.

H H Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned has been selected to receive the “Social Innovator of the Year Award” which was announced by the world’s leading Social Entrepreneurship Initiative, Ashoka Arab World. “Her Highness is a pillar of both change and hope for her home country of Qatar as well as the entire Arab world. At the helm of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, Sheikha Mozah guides Qatar’s education, scientific research and community development. Testaments to both her power and ambition, Education City, Sidra Medical and Research Center and Qatar Science and Technology Park, the hallmark facilities of the Foundation, have furthered her persona as both a protector and patron of learning and knowledge in Qatar and the Arab region”, Iman Bibars said after announcing the award.
Sheikha Mozah will receive the 2010 Arab World Social Innovation Forum.

HRH Crown Prince Frederik has completed an official visit to the nations of Saudi Arabia and Qatar to promote Danish business interests in the Middle East.
Frederik arrived in Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh on Friday night, and spent the following day, January 16th, visiting trade and industry ministers before having meetings with various Saudi royals in the afternoon. They included HM King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, HRH Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, HRH Prince Naif (Interior Minister) and HRH Prince Saud (Foreign Affairs Minister). An official dinner for local representatives and the Danish business delegation concluded the day’s schedule at the Danish Embassy in Riyadh.
On January 17th, the Crown Prince travelled to neighbouring Qatar where his schedule included a visit to Maersk Oil, a visit to the Museum of Islamic Art and a visit to the Souq Waqif. A meeting with the Crown Prince of Qatar, HRH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, was also on the agenda for noon.
HRH then moved on to the United Arab Emirates, where he attended the opening of the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi, alongside HRH Prince Felipe of Spain.

Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and Sheikha Mozah Nasser al-Misnad started their Latin American tour with Buenos Aires on a three-day state visit . Sheikh Hamad met with Argentina’s President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner at the presidential palace in Buenos Aires where the two leaders held talks.
The Emir and his wife are going to visit Brazil, Venezuela and Costa Rica. Brazil visit will start on January 20, 2010.

HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and his wife Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al Missned, Chairperson of DOHALAND, officially launched the Heart of Doha project. The Heart of Doha project is a housing and building project which will be completed in 2016. The concept of the project is traditional Arabian architecture.
During the opening, Sheikha Mozah said “Our past clearly reflected that communities in Qatar have always been close knit. People lived and worked together in harmony with the climate, with the land and with each other. We had our own ways of dealing with our environment which was sustainable and human in scale, and thus, our architecture reflected the unity of our family’s identity.”

On November 16, Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned, chair of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, launched the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) which is an initiative of Qatar Foundation.
Addressing the Guest of Honour, Irina Bokova, newly elected UNESCO Director-General, and 1,000 opinion leaders from 120 countries, Sheikha Mozah said in her speech “Innovation in education, which is the focus of this Summit should become an achievable and executable process. It should be at the heart of the education which is the force which exerts human energy and guides it wisely for the purpose of expanding human intelligence and creativity to serve the objective of just and equitable human societies, therefore this Summit requires us to debate deeply and discuss a series of issues at the core of the right to education in order to draft an agreement on which we can build our next steps”.
WISE is a global groundbreaking collaborative initiative established by Qatar Foundation under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al Missned. WISE will contribute to 21st century challenges and their impact on education.

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani Crown Prince of Qatar hosted an Iftar banquet for high ranking leaders and senior officers of the armed force and police on the the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan. Iftar is when muslims break their fast which is not eating from the start of sunrise to sunset. The banquet was attended by HH Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani the personal representative of HH the Emir of Qatar.

Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser al Missnad has made the Vanitys Fair 2009 International Best-Dressed List for the very first time. Sheikha Mozah who has been on the international scene many times in Couture pieces as as Valentino, Jean Paul Gaultier, Stephan Rolland and Chanel which are just a few to name. Sheikha Mozah has also been seen in a number of shoes by the famous designer Christian Louboutin. Sheikha Mozah made a few headlines wearing a floor length plum silk gown with buttons down the front and a lovely draping at the back matched with a diamond-and-pearl evening belt when meeting with President Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni for state dinner at the Elysee Palace in Paris.

Qatar Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and his wife Sheikha Mozah are on a 3 day state visit to France. The Emir was welcomed at the Elysee Palace in Paris yesterday by French President Nicolas Sarkozy. Emir of Qatar and President Sarkozy held talks on ways of boosting bilateral ties,and reviewed a set of regional and international issues.
HH Sheikha Mozah Nasser al-Misnad met Carla Bruni, wife of the French president, at the Elysee Palace. The two first ladies reviewed a number of social, cultural and educational topics of common interest.
Later that day, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and First Lady Carla Bruni hosted a gala dinner in honour of Qatar’s Emir and his wife Sheikha Mozah at Elysee Palace, in Paris.
