On November 16, Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned, chair of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, launched the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) which is an initiative of Qatar Foundation.
Addressing the Guest of Honour, Irina Bokova, newly elected UNESCO Director-General, and 1,000 opinion leaders from 120 countries, Sheikha Mozah said in her speech “Innovation in education, which is the focus of this Summit should become an achievable and executable process. It should be at the heart of the education which is the force which exerts human energy and guides it wisely for the purpose of expanding human intelligence and creativity to serve the objective of just and equitable human societies, therefore this Summit requires us to debate deeply and discuss a series of issues at the core of the right to education in order to draft an agreement on which we can build our next steps”.
WISE is a global groundbreaking collaborative initiative established by Qatar Foundation under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al Missned. WISE will contribute to 21st century challenges and their impact on education.

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani Crown Prince of Qatar hosted an Iftar banquet for high ranking leaders and senior officers of the armed force and police on the the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan. Iftar is when muslims break their fast which is not eating from the start of sunrise to sunset. The banquet was attended by HH Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani the personal representative of HH the Emir of Qatar.

Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser al Missnad has made the Vanitys Fair 2009 International Best-Dressed List for the very first time. Sheikha Mozah who has been on the international scene many times in Couture pieces as as Valentino, Jean Paul Gaultier, Stephan Rolland and Chanel which are just a few to name. Sheikha Mozah has also been seen in a number of shoes by the famous designer Christian Louboutin. Sheikha Mozah made a few headlines wearing a floor length plum silk gown with buttons down the front and a lovely draping at the back matched with a diamond-and-pearl evening belt when meeting with President Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni for state dinner at the Elysee Palace in Paris.

In a ceremony held yesterday for Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser al-Misnad for becoming a permanent member of the prestigious Academy of Fine Arts of Institute de France in Paris, Sheikha Mozah gave a speech where she spoke about education and civilisations.The event was attended by the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and a few Qatar and French ministers. The Emir and his wife are on a 3 day state visit to France.

Qatar Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and his wife Sheikha Mozah are on a 3 day state visit to France. The Emir was welcomed at the Elysee Palace in Paris yesterday by French President Nicolas Sarkozy. Emir of Qatar and President Sarkozy held talks on ways of boosting bilateral ties,and reviewed a set of regional and international issues.
HH Sheikha Mozah Nasser al-Misnad met Carla Bruni, wife of the French president, at the Elysee Palace. The two first ladies reviewed a number of social, cultural and educational topics of common interest.
Later that day, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and First Lady Carla Bruni hosted a gala dinner in honour of Qatar’s Emir and his wife Sheikha Mozah at Elysee Palace, in Paris.

HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of Qatar arrived in the UAE on Sunday where he held talks with President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The two leaders discussed relations between Qatar and the UAE and matters of mutual concern as well as the regional and international issues in line with continuous consultations between the leaderships of the two countries.
Sheikh Khalifa hosted a banquet in honour of Emir of Qatar and his delegation. After the talks and lunch the Emir returned to Qatar.
Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Sheikhs attended the talks.

HH Sheikha Mozah Nasser al-Misnad, chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development held talks with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin. The two discussed educational issues and a common mechanism investment in scientific research. Sheikha Mozah also held talks with German Minister of Economy and Technology where they talked about issues related to education and technology.
Former German chancellor Gerhard Schroder, hosted a luncheon in honour of HH Sheikha Mozah at the Kempinski hotel in Berlin. Later on that evening Sheikha Mozah met with Germany’s First Lady Eva Luise Kohler at Bellevue’s Presidential Palace in Berlin.

Qatar’s Crown Prince Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani is in South Korea for a two-day official visit to boost diplomatic and economic ties. Sheikh Tamim is scheduled to hold talks with President Lee Myung-bak, Prime Minister Han Seung-soo to discuss ways to strengthen ties in various fields from politics to culture, Sheikh Tamim will also meet with other government officials. Qatar is the world’s largest supplier of liquefied natural gas and the fifth-largest oil supplier for Korea. It is also the number one export destination for Korean-built LNG carriers.
“This is an important landmark and a special milestone in our relationship,” said Qatar Ambassador Ali Hamad Mubarak Al-Marri while talking to The Korea Herald.

Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Khalifa Al-Thani and his wife Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned will begin a state visit to Malaysia for the first time today. The Emir is scheduled to meet with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tunku Mizan Zainal Abidin and with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to discuss bilateral, regional and international issues. The meeting will also bring talks about tourism, education, banking and finance to the table.
In a statement from the Foreign Ministry, it said “In addition, the visit would provide an opportunity for the leaders of both countries to discuss regional and international issues of mutual concern to Malaysia and Qatar.”

On Tuesday The Emir of Qatar, H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and his wife H H Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned attended the opening ceremony of the South Hook Terminal for Liquefied Natural Gas in Wales in the presence of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.
The South Hook terminal is a technological milestone as part of the Qatargas 2 LNG value chain project. It will make additional supplies of cleaner-burning natural gas available to the UK and Europe.
Speaking on the occasion, the Emir welcomed Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip and the attending guests saying “to join us in celebrating this historic occasion which is highly significant to our two countries.”
In Queen Elizabeth’s address she highlighted the importance of working together in bilateral partnershipas well as what was being celebrated was a good example of partnership between Qatar and Britian which are working together to achieve common goals.
After the opening ceremony, H H Sheikha Mozah and Queen Elizabeth toured the exhibition which displayed images of the plant, industrial and economic side of Qatar as well as Qatar’s achievements.
