State Visit to Croatia

Two days after finishing their 2-day State Visit to Slovenia, King Harald and Queen Sonja began their State Visit to Slovenia’s bordering country, Croatia. Yesterday the Norwegian King Harald V and his wife Queen Sonja started their 2-day State Visit to Slovenia. The Royal couple was formally welcomed President Türk and Mrs Miklič Türk at Brdo Castle about 30 kilometres outside the capital city of Ljubljana. Märtha Louise Parachuting

Yesterday the Norwegian Princess Märtha Louise went parachuting, which was part of a Sports Association’s campaign. The aim of the campaign is to recruit more disabled people to sport. The Princess did the tandem jump with a tandem instructor from about 3800 meters high. The President of the Republic of Lithuania, Dalia Grybauskaitė, is currently on a two-day State Visit to Norway. She was welcomed by the King and Queen and the Crown Princely couple at the Palace Square on April 5th. Today Crown Prince Haakon attended a boat show at the Norway Trade Fairs in Lillestrøm where more then 350 boats, engines and other marine equipment are displayed. Nordic World Ski Championships in Olso

Crown Princess Mette-Marit in Geneva

Crown Princess Mette-Marit paid a two day visit to Geneva. There she attended several meetings with humanitarian organisations. The meetings mainly focus on HIV/AIDS. The Crown Princess has supported the fight against HIV/Aids as a Special Representative for UNAIDS since April 2006. 20 years ago, on January 17th 1991, King Olav V of Norway passed away. Alexander Edward Christian Frederik was born in Norfolk (England) on July 2nd 1903 as the only son of Prince Carl of Denmark and Princess Maud of Wales, who later became King Haakon VII and Queen Maud of Noway. Nobel Peace Prize 2010

Today the Nobel Peace Prize Award ceremony took place in Oslo. This year Chinese human rights activist Liu Xiaobo was awarded for his long and non-violent fight for human rights in China. Queen Sonja’s School Award 2010

This year the Kaupanger school in Sogndal was awarded with the Queen Sonja’s School. The school was awarded with the price because it developed good training programs for diverse students.
