Princess Lalla Amina participated in king Hamad’s Horce Racing Cup, which took place on Saturday. Princess Lalla Amina completed the 20-km distance in two hours, the Princess was greeted at the end of the competition by King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

President of the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF) Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa handed over a special prize of the Federation to Lalla Amina in recognition of her participation in this competition.
Princess Lalla Amina arrived on Thursday in Manama she was received by Princess Sabika Bent Ibrahim Al Khalifa, spouse of the king of Bahrain Hamad, for a luncheon then the princess had a meeting with King Hamad and during this meeting Lalla Amina handed over a written message from HM king Mohammed VI to the king of Bahrain.
Lalla Amina is the king Mohammed VI’s aunt, she is President of the Moroccan Federation of equestrian sports and of Special Olympics Morocco.

Lalla Salma received on Monday at the Château de Versailles (near Paris) the 2010 award of the Charter of Paris against Cancer. The ceremony took place during a charity evening organized for the benefit of the association (Life – Hope to Fight Cancer) held under the patronage of president Nicholas Sarkozy for the Association pour la Vie-Espoir contre le Cancer (AVEC).

The award comes in recognition of the untiring action of the Princess as head of the Lalla Salma Association to Fight Cancer. In this context Professor Khayat paid tribute to the Princess for her “unwavering commitment” to making the Moroccan society “show stronger solidarity in the battle for life.” He said the Princess’ commitment made it possible “to place Morocco in a high level in the fight against cancer” and “to facilitate “the poor’s access to treatment and medicine to allow them an opportunity to recover” from this terrible disease.
The Charter of Paris was formed in February 2000 under the auspices of Mr Jacques Chirac, ex-president of France, and initiated by David Khayat, president of the National Institute of Cancer in France, at the World Summit Against Cancer in Paris.

King Mohammed VI chaired on Sunday at the Royal Palace in Marrakech the ceremony of setting up the Advisory Committee on Regionalization.The Committee, whose chairmanship was entrusted to Omar Azzimane, is composed of 21 members. Its mission is to propose a general conception of regionalization, while bearing in mind its relevant dimensions and the role of competent constitutional institutions in its implementation.

The sovereign called on the Regionalization Advisory Committee, of which he announced the setting up in his address to the nation, to put in place “a new national regionalization system, without drifting into imitation or copying exact foreign experiences.”
“Our ultimate purpose,” continued the Monarch, “is to lay the foundation stone ahead of time of a regionalization model for developing countries.” It is also about backing up “the privileged place of our country as an example to follow when it comes to take bold national stands and to bring creative Moroccan responses to major Moroccan questions” added Mohammed VI.
For the Moroccan King, the general concept of the expected model must be designed by being based on four foundations: “the attachment to the sacredness and the constants of the nation, particularly the unity of the state, the nation and the territory, We are therefore acting as the Guarantor and the Protector of unity.”
The ceremony was attended by King’s brother Moulay Rachid, Prime Minister Abbass Fassi and serval government figures.

Mohammed VI and his spouse, Lalla Salma, offered on Sunday a “family dinner” in honor of French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his spouse Carla Bruni at the royal residence in Marrakech.
The dinner was attended by the King and Lalla Salma’s son, Crown Prince Moulay Hassan; the King brother’s Prince Moulay Rachid and his sister Princess Lalla Asmaa.
Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla were invited by the King to spend the Christmas holidays in Morocco, and arrived on Friday afternoon to Marrakech. The Presidential Couple spend their vacation at the royal residence of Jnane Lekbir, near the Imperial City.

The 9th Marrakech International Film Festival held under the patronage of King Mohammed VI opened Friday in Marrakech. An array of prominent people involved in art and culture took part in the opening ceremony which honors national and internationals movies.

Prince Moulay Rachid, Chairman of the Festival Foundation, said in his annual editorial on the Festival website that The Marrakech International Film Festival conserves its past achievements and looks towards the future. He stressed at the same time his certainty “of the excellent level of the competition, the professionalism of the jury, the in-depth work carried out for the visually-impaired people, and the faithful attendance of all those who have set a foot on the festival catwalk and who have come back again.” The prince also wished that “this year’s Festival strengthen the film directors’ will to express the multiple facets of our beautiful country, Morocco the land of Islam, progress and tolerance.”

Later that Friday evening prince Moulay Rachid attend a dinner offered by King Mohammed VI on the opening of the 9th Marrakech International Film Festival.
The event will be chaired by famous Iranian director scriptwriter and producer Abbas Kiarostami who was has been awarded the golden palm prize. Several VIP personalities were among the attendance such as Princess Clotilde of Savoy, Cecilia Attias, former wife the french president Sarkozy, and her current husband Richard Attias, also Sex and the City star actress Kim Cattrall, G.I. Joe star Moroccan actor Saïd Taghmaoui, and US actor Christopher Walken. The festival will end on December 12.

Lalla Salma, along with Jordanian Princesses Ghida Talal and Dina Mired, presided over several ceremonies during Morocco’s National Day to Fight Cancer. Among the events was the signing of a partnership agreement between Morocco’s Anti-Cancer Association (ALSC), and the Vaudois University Hosptial Center. According to an article in the Agence Maghreb Arabe Presse, the agreement will create training, internships, expertise, and will facilitate research in the field of cancer.
Lalla Salma presented certificates to participants in ALSC-sponsored training in Morocco and abroad. In addition to the ALSC events, the princess awarded prizes to the winners of a national competition called, “Secondary and High-schools Without Tobacco”.
These activities aren’t out of the ordinary for Lalla Salma. She has dedicated a lot of time and energy in promoting cancer research, and in visiting cancer patients with the goal of improving their quality of care.

Princess Lalla Asma, sister of King Mohammed VI, chaired on Saturday the opening ceremony of the Charity Bazaar of Rabat’s Diplomatic Club, organized by the spouses of ambassadors accredited to Morocco under the patronage of King Mohammed VI. The Princess visited various stands of the bazaar.

On this occasion Mrs Humera Mahmood President of the Diplomatic Club and spouse of Pakistan’s Ambassador paid glowing tribute to Princess Lalla Asma for her efforts to support the Diplomatic Club.The Club which serves as a bridge between the Diplomatic Corps and Moroccan civil society,provides since its creation support to organizations working on social cultural and educational projects in different regions of Morocco she said.
The International Charity Bazaar organized annually by the Diplomatic Club of Rabat is a charity event which aims to fund projects carried out by Moroccan associations in the fields of education, health and the promotion of the conditions of rural women.

King Mohammed VI, accompanied by his son Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and his brother Prince Moulay Rachid, visited on Friday in Rissani (Errachidia province) the Moulay Ali Cherif Mausoleum and spent some time in silent contemplation at the tomb of the founder of the Alawite dynasty.

The Mausoleum of Moulay Ali Sharif is one of the most beautiful historic monuments of the region Tafilalet. The shrine includes besides the tombs of Moulay Ali Sharif and his sons Moulay Youssef and Moulay M’hamed, those of Sidi El Habib Ben Zine El Abidine Ben Moulay Ismail and Moulay Rachid Ben Sidi Mohamed Ben Abderrahman.
Moulay Ali Sharif, ancestor of King Mohammed VI, was a great man of faith and a distinguished scientist who has passed his knowledge to many of his followers in the Muslim world to Andalusia where he spent over 20 years. Originally from Yanbu in Saudi Arabia, Moulay Ali Sharif was born in 762 Hegira corresponding to 1360 AD and died in 847 Hegira at the age of 85 years. He was buried in a first step in Zaouiat Tighmart, 200 km from Rissani, before his body was transferred to the existing mausoleum built under the reign of Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah (Mohammed III) in 1206 of the Hegira.
King Mohammed VI has since the 7th of November visited the Province of Errachidia, once called and known in history books as Sijilmassa, which is the region where the Sovereign ancestors settled when the came from the Levant before years later they conquest Morocco founding the last dynasty in Morocco Monarchy “the the Alawite dynasty”.

Princess Lalla Hasna, sister of King Mohammed VI and Chairwoman of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment, presided on Sunday over the ‘2009 Clean Beaches’ Trophy Awards Ceremony. During this ceremony,which marks the 10th anniversary of “Clean Beaches” programme, Princess Lalla Hasnaa read a message addressed by HM King Mohammed VI, in which the Sovereign praised the work carried out by the Foundation.
On the same occasion Princess Lalla Hasnaa handed the trophies to the winners in recognition of their efforts to preserve Morocco’s beaches and protect the environment. Princess Lalla Hasnaa also visited an exhibition organized by partners of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment, then the Princess attended the screening of a film entitled “ten years of clean beaches,” before handing awards to the Foundation’s economic partners. On the same occasion which was marked by music and theatre shows, Princess Lalla Hasnaa followed the presentation of the Foundation’s institutional spot.

Last Wednesday, Princess Lalla Salma of Morocco served as the chairperson for the first event of the “Medicines for Low-Income Patients Program” in Casablanca. The Princess devotes a lot of time and energy to supporting cancer research. She also serves as the head of the Anti-Cancer Association of Morocco (ASLC).
According to an article from Agence Maghreb Arabe Presse, the program provides medical check-ups, chemotherapy, and other medicines to people with cancer. The group has created a database and record-keeping system in an effort to better serve those with cancer who wouldn’t otherwise be able to get treatment.
