On July 13th, 1966 a largely forgotten member of the Spanish Royal Family died at Sanlúcar de Barrameda in southern Spain. The royal lady in question was Beatrice, Duchess of Galliera, who was a granddaughter of Queen Victoria. The Head of the House of Hesse, Moritz, Landgrave of Hesse, has passed away at the age of eighty-six. The Landgrave passed away in the afternoon of May 23rd, following a long-term lung illness. Deaths in the Houses of Bavaria and Schaumburg-Lippe

There have been two deaths this past week in former German royal houses. Princess Editha of Bavaria, the third child of Crown Prince Rupprecht of Bavaria and his second wife Princess Antonia of Luxembourg, passed away on May 4th.
