Queen Beatrix Visits Turkey: June 13-15

To mark 400 years of diplomatic relations between the Netherlands and Turkey, Queen Beatrix was in Turkey for a two-day visit last week. White and Beige Wednesday for Máxima and Mary

Princess Mabel Resigns from Elders CEO Position

Princess Mabel of Orange-Nassau has resigned from her position as Chief Executive Officer of The Elders. The decision was announced following a meeting of The Elders on May 7th in Norway. The Princess has decided to step down due to the current situation with her husband, Prince Friso, who is in a coma following an avalanche accident on February 17th. The Dutch Royal Family yesterday celebrated the official birthday of Queen Beatrix, Koninginnedag, in the towns of Rhenen and Veenendaal. Queen Beatrix was joined by two of her sons and daughters-in-law, her sister, and nephews and their wives for the festivities. State Visit from Turkey to the Netherlands – Last Day

The last day of the State Visit started on April 19 with a visit to Floriade in Venlo. Floriade is an international exhibition of flowers and gardening. Dutch Crown Prince Buys Property in Greece

The Prince of Orange and Princess Máxima have bought a villa in Doroufi, west of Kranidi, Greece. The villa was purchased for €4.5million from German photographer Manfred Rieker, and features a swimming pool, alongside a private beach and marina. It sits on a four-thousand square metre estate. Like every year the Dutch Royal Family was present at the National Volunteer Day, NL DOET, on March 16 and 17, 2012. On March 16, Queen Beatrix, Princess Margriet, Prince Bernhard, Princess Annette, Prince Floris and Princess Aimée helped the foundation Assistance Dog in Molenschot. Prince Friso of Orange-Nassau has been transferred to the Wellington Clinic in London, England. The RVD announced this today at 18.18 o’clock Duch time. The Wellington Clinic has been chosen based on advice from experts. Their advice was based on the condition of the Prince. Prince Friso in Coma following Avalanche Last Friday

UPDATE 24/02/12 at 07:15: A press conference with the head of trauma and intensive care at the hospital in Innsbruck has just taken place. The doctors gave some details on the Prince’s condition, and their prognosis: The Prince was under the snow for 25 minutes, and CPR was performed for 50 minutes to resuscitate him. A MRI was performed yesterday on the Prince, which indicated that the Prince had suffered severe brain damage from a lack of oxygen. Doctors cannot guarantee that the Prince will awaken from his coma, or give a timeframe as to when this could be expected. If he does wake up, his rehabilitation will take months or years.
Prince Friso of Orange-Nassau is currently in a critical but stable condition in an Innsbruck hospital following an avalanche in the ski resort of Lech am Arlberg on Friday February 17th. Continue reading
