King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima Start Their State Visit to France

Arrived yesterday evening in Paris, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima began a two-day state visit to France today. In the morning took place a welcoming ceremony at the Arc de Triomphe. On This Day: Beatrix Marries Claus

Today is the fiftieth wedding anniversary of the former Dutch monarch, Beatrix, and her late husband Claus. The pair were married back in 1966, first in a civil ceremony at the Amsterdam Town Hall and then in a religious ceremony held at the Westerkerk attended by 1,600 guests including royals for many of Europe’s royal houses. Queen Maxima Attends the Leerorkest Anniversary Concert

Queen Maxima attended the ten year anniversary of the Leerorkest (Learing-orchestra) in Amsterdam. The concert consisted of 1088 primary school children, the Dutch Philharmonic Orchestra, singers from the National Opera and soloists. Queen Maxima is the honorary chairman of “More Music in the Classroom” which supports the Leerorkest. The Skating Princess: Margriet Laps Up 10KM for Charity Fundraiser

Princess Irene Sells Villa

Princess Irene of The Netherlands sold her villa Marienhoeve in Wijk bij Duurstede. The house was only for sale for a few months. The princess wanted to live closer to her children and grand children and has moved to Wassenaar near The Hague. Princess Alexia Released From Hospital

Controversy Around Beatrix Sailboat Coninues: Costs Estimated at 1,5 Million Euros

The controversy around the maintenance costs of Princess Beatrix’s sail boat, the ‘Groene Draeck’ (Green Dragon), continues. Beatrix received the boat for her 18th birthday in 1957 from the Dutch state. The gift consisted of two parts: the boat itself and the promise to maintain the boat. Princess Alexia Breaks Leg While Skiing in Lech

Princess Alexia of the Netherlands is recovering well after surgery today to repair a broken leg she suffered while skiing in Lech, Austria. The Princess injured herself Saturday on the ski runs and was taken by helicopter to a nearby hospital, where it was found she had a break in her right thighbone.
