The Dutch tour of the Caribbean islands continued on Thursday November 14th in Saba. Queen Maxima Attends Prince Bernhard Cultural Prize 2013

On Monday November 11th, Queen Maxima presented the Prince Bernard Cultural Prize 2013 at Amsterdam’s Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ. This years award was awarded to Piet Oudolf, a garden and landscape designer. Piet Oudolf was born in Haarlem in 1944. Regency Plans Revealed in the Netherlands

The Government Information Service in the Netherlands has today revealed their plans should King Willem-Alexander pass away before his heir, daughter Catharina-Amalia, reaches the age of 18. In such an event, Queen Máxima would become the regent for the Princess of Orange until she turns 18 in December 2021. Princess Beatrix Breaks Cheekbone

Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands has broken her cheekbone, the RVD (Government Information Service) announced today. The Princess underwent an operation to fix the break today. She will spend a few days recuperating in hospital, before returning to Huis ten Bosch Palace to recover. She suffered the break in a fall at her home, Huis ten Bosch.

The official opening of parliament was celebrated on Tuesday in the Netherlands, the first Prinsjesdag for the new monarch, Willem-Alexander. King Willem-Alexander Receives IOC Honours

On Saturday September 7th in Buenos Aires, King Willem-Alexander was appointed as an honorary member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). On Monday September 9th, Princess Laurentien opened the ninth Literacy Week in the Efteling theme park in Kaatsheuvel. Prince Friso Laid To Rest

Prince Friso of Orange-Nassau was laid to rest yesterday afternoon, in a private funeral at the Stulpkerk in Lage Vuursche. His bereaved family made their way to the church on foot from Drakensteyn Castle, Prince Friso’s childhood home. The Prince’s two daughters, Countesses Luana and Zaria, along with his nieces and nephews were all wearing white outfits. Prince Friso Has Passed Away

The Dutch Royal Court has just announced that Prince Friso, the second son of Princess Beatrix, has passed away from complications in his health. He was 44. The Prince has been in a coma for over a year following a skiing accident in Austria in February 2012.
