Queen Beatrix unviels Statues of her Parents

Queen Beatrix today unveiled a bronze-plated statue of her late parents, Queen Juliana and Prince Bernhard. The statue lies in the grounds of Soestdijk Palace, which was the home of Juliana and Bernhard from 1937 to their deaths in May and December 2004, respectively. On saturday, queen Beatrix of The Netherlands attended the international Art manifestation ”Open Source” in the Bijlmer in Amsterdam. Queen Beatrix, the prince of Orange, Princess Máxima, Princess Margriet and Prof. Pieter van Vollenhoven attended the memorial service for the victms of the Queen’s Day tragedy that was held tonight in the Orpheus theatre in Apeldoorn. Princess Mathilde was voted the most popular and best future Queen Consort by a poll of the French royalty magazine Point de Vue. She received 47,8% of the votes, and led the poll by a large margin. Prince Bernhard Undergoes Surgery

Prince Bernhard, a nephew of Queen Beatrix, has undergone intestinal surgery to remove benign tissue in his bowel. The surgery took place yesterday at the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam, and was performed by Dr WA Bemelmans. The RVD reported that the surgery went to plan, and the Prince is recovering.
