Margrethe and Henrik Take Felix To Handball Final

Queen Margrethe II and Prince Henrik took their second eldest grandson, Prince Felix, with them yesterday afternoon when they attended the final match of the European Handball Championships in Herning. Anne-Dorte of Rosenborg Passes Away

Countess Anne-Dorte of Rosenborg, the widow of Count Christian of Rosenborg, passed away on January 2nd. She was 66. She passed away peacefully at the Gentofte Hospital, where she had been admitted after Christmas with respiratory problems caused by her long-running battle with throat cancer. Her three daughters – Josephine, Camilla and Feodora – were by her bedside. A funeral service will be held on January 9th, at the Lyngby Kirke. … Continue reading

Crown Princess Mary Visits Herning

Crown Princess Mary yesterday was in the city of Herning, where she visited the Lind Care and Activity Centre and attended the 2013 European Short Course Swimming Championships. First visiting the care centre, the Crown Princess had an early afternoon tea with 125 residents and staff of the centre. Princess Marie Takes Over New Patronages

Denmark’s Princess Marie has added two new patronages to her portfolio, bringing her total to thirteen. The new patronages are in the fields of health and marine conservation, and previously had Prince Henrik, the Prince Consort, as their patron. They are the Danish Epilepsy Association and the Kattegat Centre. The Danish Epilepsy Association’s primary focus is to assist the approximately 55,000 Danes who suffer from epilepsy. New Danish Painting Unveiled

A new painting of the Danish Royal Family was unveiled last week, ahead of its display at Amalienborg. Thomas Kluge, a Danish artist who has previously painted portraits of members of the family on numerous occasions, was the man commissioned to create the portrait.
