Danish State Visit to Vietnam, Day Four

The dreary weather in Vietnam today created some issues for the Danish royals on the fourth day of their state visit. The morning’s planned sailing trip from the Thien Mu Pagoda was cancelled as the water levels in the river had risen two meters. The royals also had to alter their transportation to the area. Madeleine and Benedikte attend Horse Show

Princess Madeleine of Sweden and Princess Benedike of Denmark attended the International Horse show at Flyinge in Southern Sweden on Wednesday, November 4th 2009. Princess Madeleine just returned home from her month-long stay in New York. Yesterday the Princess attended a large horse show. Princess Marie at UNESCO Conference

Princess Marie yesterday opened a UNESCO environmental conference for school leaders from both Asia and Europe in Soenderborg. The 100 educationalists will be working together on joint projects over the internet to help better the environment, which is, as Princess Marie said, very relevant with the climate summit being held in Copenhagen next month. Princess Mary launches 2009 Christmas Seal

Crown Princess Mary yesterday launched the 2009 Christmas Seal (Julemærkefonden), at the Tivoli Amusement Park. This year’s stamps were designed by Birgitte Els-Schleuder, who says her inspiration for the designs were “old poetic Christmas decorations.” Mary met with Els-Schleuder and several young girls from the Foundation homes at the launch, before revealing this year’s stamp. Royal Court Denies Queen will Abdicate Next Year

Crown Prince Frederik Elected to IOC

Crown Prince Frederik has been elected to the International Olympic Committee, as the representative for Denmark. The Prince was elected by a majority vote of 77 to 9, plus six absentee ballots. The Danish Royal Family today attended the opening of the 2009/2010 Danish parliamentary season at Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen. Princess Marie to take over duty from Prince Henrik
