Prince Charles’s Image and Vision

  June 1, 2009 at 10:34 am by

Over the last several years we have been hearing a lot about Prince Charles and who he is. It is almost as if he had just sprung onto the world stage full grown, as it were. It seemed as if we had forgotten that a very young looking Prince Charles “arrived” on the adult stage on his investiture as Prince of Wales. Since that day his almost every move has … Continue reading

  May 30, 2009 at 8:03 pm by

The Highgrove Florilegium was first produced in 2008 and this year a New Zealander’s work is to be included in the second volume. Susan Worthington is quick to emphasise that she is not a botanist, but that her water colour paintings are botanically correct. Less than 200 copies of the latest volume of the Highgrove Florilegium are to be printed, and will fetch a remarkable price tag – that of … Continue reading

Is this the end of the line for the royal corgis?

  May 28, 2009 at 7:45 pm by

is reporting that the Queen has decided to stop breeding corgis. Recently, the Queen lost two corgis to cancer, and allegedly she is so devastated by the loss that she will not be replacing her dogs. There seems to be some discrepancy as to how many corgis and dorgis (corgi-dachshund crosses) that the Queen now owns; one article says that there are now seven dogs. Additionally, none of the other … Continue reading

A Reminder of John Brown

  May 28, 2009 at 7:04 pm by

Few royal friendships have spawned controversy and even a movie a century later, but Queen Victoria’s attachment to her ghillie, John Brown, was exceptional. There were even rumors in their time that the depressed widow had married her wild Scotsman, earning her the nickname Mrs. Brown. In 1997 Dame Judi Dench and Billie Connolly reenacted the relationship in the movie Mrs. Brown. The Queen mourned when Brown, who had advanced … Continue reading

BNP Leader goes to Buckingham Palace?

  May 21, 2009 at 1:27 pm by

I’m sure HM the Queen has had to deal with situations ranging from silly to the downright diabolical, but this one must take the cake. The Queen, who is the figurehead for the entire commonwealth, might have to welcome a convicted criminal to her Summer Garden Party. As if that weren’t insult enough, apparently it all so that someone can make some political hay out of the invitation that is … Continue reading

Camilla Bowls Them Over

  May 11, 2009 at 5:09 pm by

I’m fairly used to the sight of white-clad golden oldies showing their ball skills on a perfectly mowed lawn (I live near a Bowls club you see), but never did it cross my mind that bowls would become the sport of Kings. Or rather future Queens. Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall showed her flair for the game today on a visit to the village of Box in Wiltshire … Continue reading
