Queen Fabiola attends memorial mass for King Baudouin

On 31 July, Queen Fabiola attended the memorial mass for her late husband, King Baudouin I of Belgium. The mass is always organised at the special request of Queen Fabiola, on the anniversary of the King’s death, at the Church of Our Lady in Laeken. Second Murder Threat for Queen Fabiola

On Wednesday, the redaction of the newspaper La Dernière Heure received a new letter containing a murder threat aimed at Queen Fabiola of Belgium, the second letter in two months. The letter was dated 2 July, but since Emanuelle Preat, the one at whom the letter was adressed, had been absent, it hasn’t been read before Wednesday. King Albert Offers to Pay Part of Renovation Costs

King Albert II of Belgium has offered the Belgian government to help them to pay for the renovation costs necessary to freshen up the Royal Palace in Brussels. The Belgian government had appointed a parliamentary commission to discuss the dotation system of the Belgian royals. Prince Philippe of Belgium travelled to the Kazach steppes, to Star City Baikonur, where he attended the launch of the Soyuz, which carries Russian Cosmonaut Roman Romanenko, Canadian astronaut Robert Thirsk and Belgian astronaut Frank De Winne.
