Deaths in the Houses of Bavaria and Schaumburg-Lippe

There have been two deaths this past week in former German royal houses. Princess Editha of Bavaria, the third child of Crown Prince Rupprecht of Bavaria and his second wife Princess Antonia of Luxembourg, passed away on May 4th. The Princess was born on September 16, 1924 in Hohenburg. She married twice: firstly to Tito Tommasso Brunetti, secondly to Gustav Christian Schimert. Prince Maurits Receives Aide-de-Camp Appointment

Prince Maurits was today appointed to the post of aide-de-camp extraordinary to his cousin, King Willem-Alexander. The new King also promoted his cousin to the rank of Captain-Lieutenant in the Dutch Royal Navy. These new appointments mean that Prince Maurits can attend and represent King Willem-Alexander at military ceremonies. His military uniform will bear the monogram of the King. The Netherlands Gets A New Monarch

Bea Hosts Black-Tie Dinner Ahead of Abdication

Ahead of her abdication tomorrow, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands tonight hosted a black-tie dinner at the recently renovated Rijksmuseum for foreign guests. Félix and Claire to Wed in September

The Luxembourg Grand Ducal Court yesterday announced that Prince Félix and his fiancée, Claire Lademacher, have set a wedding date – September 21. New Patronages for Catherine and Beatrice

The Duchess of Cambridge and Princess Beatrice of York have taken on new patronages this week. The Duchess of Cambridge has become Patron of three charities and organisations: Place2Be, SportsAid and the Natural History Museum. Son for Andrea Casiraghi and Tatiana Santo Domingo

The Prince’s Palace of Monaco today announced the birth of a baby boy for Andrea Casiraghi and his fiancee, Tatiana Santo Domingo. Princess Laurentien Opens Day of Literature

Funeral of Princess Lilian Scheduled for March 16

Following yesterday’s sad announcement that Princess Lilian had passed away peacefully, the Swedish Royal Court today revealed plans for her funeral. First Official Visit Announced for Willem-Alexander

The Duchess of Brabant, Princess Mathilde, today celebrates her fortieth birthday. To mark her milestone birthday, the Belgian Royal Court issued a series of new portraits of Mathilde and her family. Floris and Aimée Expecting Third Child

The Dutch Royal Court announced yesterday that Prince Floris, youngest son of Princess Margriet and Professor Pieter van Vollenhoven, and his wife, Aimée, are expecting their third child. Princess Aimée is expected to give birth in mid-July. Floris and Aimée were married in 2005, and have two daughters: Magali, born in 2007, and Eliane, born in 2009.
