King and Queen of Tonga Visit the Vatican

The King and Queen of Tonga paid a visit to the Vatican today, where they had an audience with Pope Francis. During their audience at the Apostolic Palace, the Pope and King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipau’u Tuku’aho discussed recent political developments in Tonga, as well as the contributions of the Catholic Church to Tongan society (15% of Tonga’s population identify as Roman Catholic). Older Brother of Luxembourg’s Grand Duchess Dies

The Luxembourg Grand Ducal Court announced this evening the death of José Antonio Mestre, the older brother of Grand Duchess Maria Teresa. Mr Mestre passed away at his home in Miami, Florida at the age of 62. No cause of death was announced. He suffered serious cardiovascular problems in 2011, which resulted in a week-long coma. Crown Princess Mary’s First Day in Ethiopia

Crown Princess Mary of Denmark touched down in Ethiopia this morning, for a three-day visit focusing on women’s health and rights in humanitarian emergencies. Dresden Peace Prize Awarded to the Duke of Kent

The Prince of Liechtenstein Turns Seventy

The Prince of Liechtenstein, Hans-Adam II, today celebrates his seventieth birthday. He was born in 1945 as the eldest child of Prince Franz Joseph II and his wife Georgina. The Queen of the Belgians today paid a visit to a therapeutic day centre for disabled children in the southern town of Jambes. Les Perce-Neige provides care and education to children in the region that have multiple disabilities.
