Dutch Queen Beatrix yesterday, February 24, opened the ’200 Years of the Prix de Rome’ exhibition at the Rotterdam Kunsthalle. The exhibition highlights past winners of the Dutch branch of the art and architecture prize, originally founded in 1666 by King Louis XIV of France. The Princess Royal visits Fire-Ravaged Towns in Victoria

As Queen Elizabeth II’s representative, the Princess Royal today visited survivors of the Black Saturday bushfires in Wandong, north of Melbourne. Countess Feodora of Rosenborg welcomes a Daughter

Countess Feodora of Rosenborg, the youngest daughter of Queen Margrethe’s first cousin Count Christian of Rosenborg, has introduced her three-week-old baby daughter to Danish magazine Billed Bladet. Little Caroline-Mathilde Margrethe Rønnow was born on February 1st via Caesarean section, and is Feodora’s first child with her second husband Morten Rønnow. Crown Princess Mary completes Home Guard Training

Continuing and completing her training with the Danish Home Guard between February 17 and 19, Crown Princess Mary has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant in the Home Guard. She is now attached to the staff of Total Defence Region Copenhagen. Mary began her basic Home Guard training in January 2008, and continued with NGO training that November. King Carl XVI Gustaf in Thailand

King Carl XVI Gustaf has returned home following a three day visit, between February 17 and 19, to Thailand to attend the Baden-Powell Followship’s event. The event was on the February 17; and the following day, the King officially launched a new scout group at a school in Pattaya for visually impaired children. Carl XVI Gustaf presented the new scouts with scout neckerchiefs, as member of several Swedish scouting organisations.

Princess Máxima Visits Oss

Princess Máxima visited the Dutch town of Oss on February 12. The Princess visited ‘The Inner’ cultural centre where she was informed of project work in the community, before awarding the town with a prize for their participation and citizenship in 2008. The town won the prize for the manual their residents developed on initiatives they are making in their town.

Japan’s Crown Prince on Week-Long Visit to Vietnam

The Prince of Orange and Princess Máxima are currently on an expedition to Antarctica, as part of the Dutch branch of International Polar Year. Denmark’s Crown Prince Couple Receive Donation for Humanitarian Fund

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary accepted a donation for their humanitarian fund on January 27, from the sales of a Greenlandic charity stamp issued in 2006. The stamp was published by Post Greenland, who presented the Crown Prince Couple with a cheque for 250,000 Danish kroner. It is believed the money will go towards helping children in Greenland. Crown Princess Mary Receives Donation for the Danish Demining Group

As the patron of the Danish Refugee Council, Crown Princess Mary accepted a donation of 3.2 million Swedish Kroner on January 29th for the charity’s Danish Demining Group. The donation came from Postkodlotteriet, a Swedish lottery foundation. The money will go towards clearing mines in Sri Lanka. Mary has been patron of the Danish Refugee Council since 2005.
