Duke and Duchess of Sussex visit military families in Windsor

On November 7, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited the children and families of those who in the Welsh, Coldstream and Cavalry Guards who are currently fighting abroad.

The couple attended a coffee morning at the Broom Farm Community Centre, which is in the middle of the military estate where the families currently reside. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Instagram account stated that the couple “surprised their neighbours in Windsor”.

At the moment, most of the Coldstream Guards are on an exercise in Kenya, whilst a large number of the Welsh Guards are fighting in the Falklands. Harry said “it’s unbelievably hard. I have so much respect and admiration for anyone who has to deal with that” when chatting to some mothers and other relatives of the military children.

Meghan also revealed that Archie “can crawl and has two teeth” whilst chatting to other mothers about their children’s development, with one of the mothers stating that chatting with Meghan was like “talking with a friend”.

Captain Colin Lewis of the Coldstream Guards said that the visit was welcome as the community has been having a difficult eighteen months. Harry himself served ten years and was posted to Afghanistan during the war whilst he was with the Blues and Royals. He then learnt how to fly military helicopters like his brother, the Duke of Cambridge, with the Army Air Corps and in 2014 founded the Invitctus Games; an international sporting event for wounded military personnel.
