Belgian King and Queen Visit the Province of Hainaut

Today, Thursday September 5, Their Majesties King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of the Belgians paid a visit to the Province of Hainaut.

The first stop was in the in the municipality of Lobbes where they visited the Arthur Regniers Center. It is a medical-educational center for people with cerebral palsy and motor impairment.

Then the Royal Couple paid a visit to the Saint Ursmar’s Church. The church, dedicated to Saint Ursmarus of Lobbes, is the oldest in Belgium and celebrates its millenary existence. Outside the church the King and the Queen meet the people who were gathered to greet them.

Afterwards the Royal Couple moved to the municipality of Charleroi to visit the facility of MaSTherCell located at the Biopark, a center of excellence in biotechnologies. Founded in 2011, MaSTherCell “provides unequalled quality manufacturing services to the cell therapy community”. Upon their arrival the King and the Queen were greeted by Tommy Leclercq, Governor of Hainaut Province, Paul Magnette, Mayor of Charleroi, Denis Bedoret, President of MaSTherCell and Florence Bosco, CEO of the Biopark.

The visit ended to the Quai 10, a cultural and educational center “that brings together cinema, video games and a brewery in an ultra contemporary structure”.
