The Dutch Royal Family has celebrated Koningsdag 2019, the celebration of the monarch’s birthday, in Amersfoort in the province of Utrecht today.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima and their three daughters Princess Catharina-Amalia, Princess Alexia and Princess Ariane, were joined by Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien, Prince Maurits and Princess Marilène, Prince Bernhard and Princess Annette, Prince Pieter-Christiaan and Princess Anita, and Prince Floris and Princess Aimée.

Upon their arrival the Royal family was welcomed by Hans Oosters, King’s Commissioner in the province of Utrecht, and Lucas Bolsius, the Mayor of Amersfoort. Around 45,000 people came to the city to take part in the festivities.

During the walkabout through the city center the Royal family participated in the activities organized for the event including sports, music, dancing, and culture.

At the end of the celebrations King Willem-Alexander thanked the Amersfoort people: “‘On behalf of my entire family, I want to thank everyone who was involved in this very warmly. It was a King’s Day full of wonderful stories and encounters. We enjoyed WE, Amersfoort!”
