Princess Marie Opens Home To School Children To Teach Them Cooking Skills

As patron of the Copenhagen Cooking and Food Festival, Princess Marie of Denmark opened her home kitchen up to ten pupils from Helsingør School in an effort to teach them new cooking skills, and about food waste.

She was joined by chef Timm Vladimir and founder of Stop Spild Af Mad, Selina Juul, to lead the children through the preparation of lunch. During the preparation, the three adults spoke to the pupils about food waste within Denmark, where approximately 700,000 tonnes of food is thrown away annually. Food waste is the focus of this year’s Copenhagen Cooking and Food Festival, and is one of the United Nations’s Sustainable Development Goals (with the aim to “halve per capita global food waste at the retail and consumer level, and reduce food losses along production and supply chains by 2030”).

Princess Marie’s two children, Prince Henrik and Princess Athena, also took joined in for part of the cooking lesson.
