Dutch King Hosts New Year’s Reception At Amsterdam’s Royal Palace
On Tuesday January 16th, the King of The Netherlands hosted the first of two traditional New Year’s receptions at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam.
Several hundred guests from across Dutch society, the political sphere and the public administrative services attended the reception, as did forty representatives from the Dutch National Police, who were special guests this year.
During his speech at the reception, the King personally thanked the police for all of their hard and continuous work, and their dedication to the country and its people. He also wished his mother, Princess Beatrix, and his aunt, Princess Margriet, happy birthdays for the end of the month.
Accompanying King Willem-Alexander to the reception were Queen Máxima, Princess Beatrix (who managed to get a mention on the Daily Mail for her tote bag, which bore the photograph of three of her granddaughters – the A Team), Princess Margriet and Professor Pieter van Vollenhoven.
