Crown Princess Mary Opens New Christmas Seal Home in Roskilde
On Friday, Denmark’s Crown Princess paid a visit to Roskilde, for the official opening of the Christmas Seal Foundation’s new home, Liljeborg.
Crown Princess Mary was joined by Winnie Liljeborg, a co-founder of Pandora who donated the funds for the new home’s premises and renovations, on stage as they cut the ribbon to open the home. Ms Liljeborg also donated funds for the home’s first five years of operation.
After, Mary – wearing a pair of black trousers and printed blue, white and olive blouse – was given a tour of the home, meeting with staff and children who are living in the home. She also stopped in at the kitchens, where children told her about the healthy meals they are taught to prepare so they have the necessary nutritional knowledge once they leave the homes.
The Liljeborg home is the fifth Christmas Seal Home opened in Denmark, and has 240 beds, increasing the Foundation’s housing capacity by 32%, meaning that close to 1,000 children across the country will now be able to receive treatment each year.
Also attending the opening were Count Ingolf and Countess Sussie of Rosenborg.Denmark
