Queen Sonja Visits Denmark For Exhibition Opening

Days after cancelling two engagements in Trondheim due to back pain, Queen Sonja of Norway’s health had improved enough for her to be able to make a short trip to Aarhus, in Denmark on Friday, where she helped launch an exhibition of her own artwork.

Texture is a collaboration between the Queen and artist Magne Furuholmen (a member of the Norwegian band A-ha), a ‘thematic combination of text and nature’. Graphic prints taken by the Queen during her nature walks have been overlaid with photographs of Mr Furuholmen’s sculpture works. The exhibition has already been shown across Norway and in London; proceeds from the exhibition are going towards the Queen Sonja Print Award.

Later that evening, the Norwegian Queen joined the Danish Queen for a concert at the DR Concert Hall in Copenhagen.

Queen Sonja and Queen Margrethe warmly greeted each other before walking the red carpet into the Concert Hall, where they watched a performance by Danish-French soprano Elsa Dreisig, who was the runner-up in the 2015 Queen Sonja International Music Competition.
