A Family of Surfers: Norwegian Crown Princely Family Attend Eurosurf 2017 Opening

Crown Prince Haakon was joined by his family on Saturday for the opening day of competition of the Eurosurf 2017 tournament, which is taking placed in Borestranda, outside Stavanger, in the south of Norway.

The Prince is on the organising committee for this year’s event. He toured the competition site, met with Norwegian athletes taking part; before Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus arrived in the afternoon to watch part of the competition.

Ahead of the event, the Norwegian Royal Court released a series of photographs showing the Crown Princely Family during a surf trip to Hoddevik in September.

Speaking with NRK, Crown Prince Haakon said that he was “very fond of going out into the waves”, calling surfing a “great way to be out in nature.”
