Spanish State Visit to The United Kingdom: Welcoming Ceremony

  July 12, 2017 at 4:37 pm by

King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain began their state visit to the United Kingdom on Wednesday, with the customary welcome at Horse Guards Parade in the presence of Queen Elizabeth, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall.

After greeting each other, the King and Prince Philip inspected a guard of honour before the royal party traveled to Buckingham Palace in a carriage procession, where they were joined by members of the royal family for lunch and a viewing of a special exhibition of Spanish-related pieces from the Royal Collection.

In the afternoon, the Spanish monarchs visited Parliament and had tea with the Prince of wales and the Duchess of Cornwall at Clarence House.

Queen Letizia wore two outfits for the first day’s engagements: a buttercup yellow dress and coat, with a matching cocktail hat, from Felipe Varela for the welcoming, and a deep claret Burberry dress from the afternoon’s events.

It is very obvious that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II dress-style has influenced the one of most queens of Europe. With excellent results.
