Spain’s King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia arrived in Japan on the afternoon of April 4 ahead of their state visit to the country. Their plane landed at Haneda Airport (Tokyo International Airport) where they were welcomed by a number of officials, and a small crowd of fans.

The couple will spend the next three days in Japan, upon the invitation of Emperor Akihito. King Felipe and Queen Letizia’s visit will focus heavily on Spanish-Japanese business interests.

To coincide with the royal arrival, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan issued a press release announcing the orders King Felipe and Queen Letizia have been awarded in conjunction with the visit: the King has been awarded the Supreme Order of the Chrysanthemum, Collar; while the Queen has been awarded the Order of the Precious Crown.
