As the President of the Women of the World, the Duchess of Cornwall hosted a reception today – International Women’s Day – to mark the Women of the World Festival, for women from varying sectors of British society.

Camilla delivered a speech during the event in which she praised the work of WoW: “WoW provides that place, a place where hard-hitting issues that deeply affect women’s lives can be openly discussed, and where obstacles that block their paths can be faced together. It gives them a chance to talk about different solutions to life’s challenges and above all, it celebrates and supports the achievements of remarkable women and girls worldwide.”

Among the attendees were actress Gillian Anderson, author Kathy Lette (who described the Duchess as a “human Wonderbra – uplifting and supportive”) and Cherie Blair, wife of the former Prime Minster.

WoW is a festival run at London’s Southbank Centre to “celebrate the achievement of women and girls and examines the obstacles they face”.
