Van Vollenhovens Skate For Lymphoma Fundraiser
The clan van Vollenhoven today participated in De Hollandse 100, a charity skating and cycling event to raise money for the lymphoma research charity, Lymph & Co, that was founded by Prince Bernhard.
Princess Margriet headed a team she dubbed ‘the skating grannies’, as she and three friends did the skating relay at the Flevonice ice rink. Prince Maurits and Princess Annette also did their own skating. A number of family members stopped by throughout the day to help the team keep track of how many laps they had done.
Three of the princes – Bernhard, Pieter-Christiaan and Floris – completed the entire De Hollandse 100, which involves 10km of skating and 90km of cycling.
Around 750 people took part in this year’s event, which has raised over 370,000Euros. The money raised is going towards a new study undertaken by the University of Groningen Medical Centre.
