Cake and Balloons For Birthday Girl Sophie During Devon Visit

There was a surprise birthday cake on hand today for the Countess of Wessex as she attended the annual general meeting of the Devon County Agricultural Association. With a broad grin on her face, Sophie – who turns 52 – cut into the cake that was decorated with icing farm animals (quite apt, considering the event).

Sophie had been elected the Association’s President for the year during the meeting, saying that she was “honoured and delighted” at the appointment. “Supporting our farmers and the industry is a priority for me in my work and I very much look forward to my role with this unique part of our country and its special agricultural show,” she said in a brief speech.

The Countess left the meeting with two of the ‘Happy Birthday’ balloons in her hands.
