Marius Borg Høiby To Attend Californian University

  January 12, 2017 at 7:26 pm by

Marius Borg Høiby, the elder son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, celebrates his 20th birthday tomorrow and the Norwegian Royal Court today issued a statement on his future role in the royal family and his university education.

He will be studying business administration at a university in California, beginning January 17, the statement announced. He has also made the decision to no longer partake in royal events, unless there is a family reason for him to attend, as he desires to live a life outside the public eye.

The Crown Princess also made her own statement on the situation, saying she hoped the Norwegian press and public would respect Marius’s decision, because “he is not a public person” and “will not bear public duties like his siblings”. She spoke of pressure Marius has received from some sectors of the press in recent years as he completed his teenage years, writing that she was glad her own “youthful rebellion” was not reported on as it happened.

Mette-Marit concluded by saying she “could not have been prouder” as a mother to have Marius, “a rare beautiful young man, with an open mind”, as her son.

Where town or city is Marius Borg Hoiby’s college in California? He is an independent guy and takes care of himself. He is not a royalty or nobility.

@ Karen Gutmacher – that information was not announced, just that Marius will be studying at a university in California. Given his request to be a private citizen, saying which university would be in contradiction to his wishes.

    JessRulz,

Unfortunately, the way the American media (particularly in California) worships celebrity, I dare say that the young man will be outed by them, not by the young man or his classmates. Especially if he likes to party.

One of their favorite things to do is to make people like this young man look foolish. I hope he has a good experience and and uneventful one as he works on his studies.

What about his real father? We never saw him yet.

Yes, unfortunately, I have to agree with you there – it will be the media (moreso the American media, I doubt the Norwegian media would go that far following the statement issued by Mette-Marit) that makes Marius’s university choice public. Here’s hoping he gets to spend his university days as a normal person would for as long as possible.

Probably UC Berkeley, where Prince Hakkon matriculated
