Crown Princess Mary Receives Berlingske’s Honorary Award

Crown Princess Mary of Denmark was today awarded the Berlingske Foundation’s Honorary Award for her work “as patron of the vulnerable groups of society”.

During the awards ceremony at Det Berlingske Hus in Copenhagen, the Berlingske Foundation’s chairman Mads Bryde Andersen called the Princess’s work and dedication “a model not only for other role models, but for everyone with a commitment to the society we live in.”

In her acceptance speech, Princess Mary said that “it takes time and requires a holistic and long-term effort” to positively change people’s “sense of belonging – to be a valuable part and an accepted part of a group of community”. Mary has donated he 100,000DKK prize that comes with the award to the Alliance Against Bullying, which is an anti-bullying collaboration between The Mary Foundation, Save the Children and Children’s Rights.

The award is presented annually to an individual who has contributed something “unusual for the benefit of Danish society”.
