Kensington Palace Confirms Prince Harry-Meghan Markle Relationship

  November 8, 2016 at 6:51 am by

In an unprecedented statement, Kensington Palace has confirmed the relationship between Prince Harry and American actress Meghan Markle while calling for the media to ease away from the story as the Prince is concerned for her safety.

Saying that while he is aware of the public interest in his private life, Prince Harry feels the line was crossed in recent days and that “it is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms Markle should be subjected to such a storm.” Referring to the actress as “his girlfriend”, the statement also says how Harry has been “deeply disappointed” by his inability to protect her from the media, some of whom have gone to extreme lengths to gather an exclusive in the biggest royal story of the year.

News of the relationship was first broken by Camilla Tominey of the Sunday Express last Sunday. Since then, each day has brought an avalanche of stories and reports detailing how Ms Markle – who is currently staring in the television series Suits – and Prince Harry met, when they have seen each other and, the main point of contention of the official statement, every aspect of Ms Markle’s background, family and work history.

Prince Harry “hopes that those in the press who have been driving this story can pause and reflect before any further damage is done”. How the story – and the media – proceeds from here will hopefully be with a calmer, cooler head.

She’s very pretty! Only a person’s heart shines through for who they truly are! As long as they’re both happy together, that’s all that really matters!! 🙂

  3. Too strange name Meghan. Where is she from?

  4. Ure says:

He ought to marry an English girl.

  5. Natalya says:

    Promising news…

  6. Andrea says:

Why not approve? He should be with who makes him happy. Is it because she’s divorced? The Queen of Spain is a divorced woman. When Camilla becomes queen – and she will be queen – she will be a queen who was divorced. Is it because Markle is biracial? I would think that Diana would have wanted her children to be with people who made them happy.

Most members of the royal family are more german than anything else. Diana brought English blood back into the main line.

Princess Angela of Liechtenstein is a black Panamanian. Prince Harry is distantly related to Colin Powell and his family.

I hope for the best for them both. And if they want to build a life together, so be it.

Now that that’s out of the way…

if they stay together, someone is giving up something. Would she be willing to give up her acting career? Would he have to renounce his rights to the throne? Time will tell…..

  7. Beverley Carswell says:

As long as they are happy. He isnt in line to the throne so he is entitled to marry who he wants. times have changed since Princess Margaret and her marriage didnt last and might have if she could have married Townsend

  8. Katie says:

@Beverly Carswell: Harry is indeed in the line of succession. The 2013 Succession to the Crown Act states that the first six in line to the throne seek HM’s permission to marry. Harry is currently at #5, so marrying who he wants is not an option–unless he wants to renounce his place in the succession.
