A Day In Nottingham Puts A Smile On Harry’s Face (But Not Some Ice Skates On His Feet)

Prince Harry has had what the British royals term an ‘away day’ today, visiting the city of Nottingham in central England.

His first engagement of the day was at the new Nottingham Central Police Station that is the home office of both the police force and local council workers that have teamed up to help prevent various crimes. Harry was given a tour of the new facility, meeting the teams and sitting in on the daily police briefing.

Earlier as he had arrived at the police station, Prince Harry was given a bagful of lollies and chocolates by a local woman, who remembered the Prince was a fan of Haribo lollies as a child – earning a large grin from the 32-year-old Prince.

It was then on to the National Ice Centre where Harry played rugby with local schoolchildren before meeting apprentices involved in his Coach Core initiative to help young people train to be sports coaches. The Centre is one of initiative’s partners. The ice hockey apprentices presented Harry with a pair of skates, though he was reluctant to test them out, saying that he and ice don’t mix.

Later the Prince headed over to the Full Effect community recording studio that provides local youth with a creative outlet to help reduce youth violence in the city. Harry watched a rehearsal of one of the groups that uses the studio.
