Queen Mathilde Celebrates The 20th Anniversary Of The Breast International Group

As Honorary President of the Breast International Group (BIG), Her Majesty Queen Mathilde was present yesterday, Monday October 17, at the celebration for the 20th anniversary of the organization held at the Brussels City Hall.
In her speech the Queen remembered that “breast cancer kills three times more than road accidents” and that the disease presents multiple symptoms, different for each patient. Queen Mathilde also praised the work done by researchers, surgeons, oncologists and radiologists in the development of modern therapies that are more efficient and added that The Breast International Group (BIG) “is literally the biggest global network of academic research groups, committed to find the best treatment from this cancer.”


The Breast International Group (BIG) is an international no-profit organization for academic breast cancer research groups from around the world created in 1996 and aims to facilitates and accelerates breast cancer research at the international level.
