Spanish Royals Celebrate A Rainy National Day In Madrid
Spain has celebrated its National Day, and the wet weather did not dampen the spirits of King Felipe, Queen Letizia and their two daughters as they attended official ceremonies in Madrid.
First was the royal family’s homage to the flag of Spain at the Plaza de Cánovas del Castillo where they were joined by the President of the caretaker government, Mariano Rajoy. The King reviewed the troops, while his wife and daughters stood under umbrellas on the dias during the ceremony.
It was then over to the Plaza del Emperador Carlos V and Plaza de Colón for the military parade that features 3,800 individuals from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Civil Guard and Royal Guard. Queen Letizia looked elegant in a black and white printed dress coat, while Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia kept the chilly weather away in navy and red double-breasted coats.
Later in the day the King and Queen hosted a reception at the Royal Palace.Filed under Spanish Royals
