A Royal Wedding in Tirana as Prince Leka Marries Long-Time Love

  October 8, 2016 at 9:10 pm by

The Head of the House of Zogu, Crown Prince Leka II of Albania, married his fiancee of many years, Elia Zahari, in a civil ceremony at the Royal Palace in Tirana today.

Conducting the ceremony was the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, before leaders from Albania’s religious communities provided blessings to Leka and Elia as per tradition to promote religious tolerance and harmony within the country.

The bride wore a silk and lace embroidered wedding gown with beading around the bodice and hem, with the diamond and sapphire tiara – unique for its inclusion of a ram’s head, the symbol of Albania – originally belonging to her new husband’s grandmother, Queen Geraldine.

Following the ceremony, Prince Leka and Princess Elia hosted a reception at the Palace for their guests; which included Queen Sofia of Spain and her sister Princess Irene of Greece, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, Princess Lalla Meryem of Morocco, Prince Guillaume and Princess Sibilla of Luxembourg, Empress Farah Pahlavi, Crown Princess Margareta and Prince Radu of Romania, Prince Georg Friedrich of Prussia, Princess Gloria of Thurn und Taxis and her daughter Princess Elisabeth.

Congratulations on Prince Leka III and his new wife Princess Elia’s wedding. Their wedding was so gorgeous. Princess Elia is a fabulous woman.

  2. Anne says:

Is that a baby bump behind that carefully placed bouquet?

  3. Elton Muça says:

I am a proud Albanian and the Albanian Royal Family has given us much pride today. Although i have never been a Monarchist, I am many of my friends truly believe that the time has come that we bring back the King. Prince Leka is a fantastic person and Princess Elia would be a great queen. The Princess comes from the Southern regions of Albania and her family history “The Zaharia Family” has a proud legacy in our country. They were our rulers in the 15th century. The Zogu family and the Zaharia family together is a good sign for the future.

  4. Diana Lucia Zotescu says:

I fully agree with Mr. Elton Muca. At least five former monarchies of the area should become kingdoms again: Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Muntenegro, Serbia and…..have I left any country out? Speaking of which, why shouldn’t Greece, Italy, Portugal and…(the list stays open) follow the trend !?

A truckload of good luck for the princeply newlyweds. May God (actually, all the four Gods represented by their four respective religious leaders) give the princely couple the best life can offer Them !!!
